In this video I give my thoughts on this unusual scope by HP. Initially I had some issues with the ramp voltage circuit that generates the sweep for the on-screen readouts. But it appears all it was were aging solder joints.

I agree, it is a very cool scope for when it was designed. The channel 3/4 plugin also has a battery for local RAM. I have two of these scopes and all the batteries have date codes from 1983, they still have well over 3V output and no leaks! The only caps I've had go bad are two supply bypass 100uF? on the Horizontal ASIC.

Very COoL. Yet ANOTHER HP scope that I've never knew about (mark time). HP was prolific! Good repair... When I first heard the symptom my brain started to seize up a bit. But like all things.. it's all about coming up to speed on "how the system works".. Today, it was man over machine! Congratulations! 500 points awarded. A "knobless" scope? And here I thought that was actually a recent trend. Thank you for the walk around. This was A sub-worthy video :) Cheers from So.Ca.USA 3rd house on the left (please call ahead before stopping by)

A bit of an unusual scope, almost no knobs & full of light bulbs
