Using the HP 35s to convert between different SI and US units. Celsius and Fahrenheit, pounds and kilograms, gallons and liters, inches and centimeters, miles and kilometers, degrees and radians, and hours-minutes-second and decimal.

Thanks Logan... Why can't there be a conversions GalLitre in Imperial Gal or US Gal? Also, would have been nice if there was a conversion to Nautical Miles also (the Earth is NOT all flat.) Writing a small pgm is fine, but will be wiped if calc reset. Rant over. That's all for now., Thanks for your vids.

Oh I agree. It's sad that HP has dumbed down their calculators over the years to make them functional for exams, but they are no longer for professionals. However, the DM42 can be programmed to do all that you desire, and it connects to a PC via USB so you can back up all your programs or easily load on new ones. I have a units conversion program that does nautical miles and everything (working in radar, we use nautical miles all the time).

@@west Cheers Mr L. Yup, got my DM42. Godwin is a great frontend for SwissMicros - he is a star. I'm not an engineer, rather a nutz&bolts user for simple geometric stuff, navigation (spherical) being an interest. However... my order for the DM41X is being planned (because I like SwissMicros and their attitude and quality). Your vids are educational, entertaining and very well produced. Again, thank you. Best regards

Or us Americans should just switch to metric and be done

@@joshuamahaffey7163 I'll take the bait, and play devils advocate. Metric is fine for some things, but not everything. For example, Celsius is just as arbitrary as Fahrenheit, The base-10, zero ~ one hundo, range between phases of h20 is arbitrary, and not even constant as it depends on atmospheric pressure. Also, assuming sea level, the 0~100 scale is not granular enough in such a small range. For example, nobody wants to express temperature as 20.5 Celsius. Interesting this same argument is one of the compelling reasons to advocate for metric distances, kilometres are more fine grained being smaller unit sizes than miles. Volumetric measurements goes the same way, metric is (imho) better due to smaller consistent units. However, at this point one could argue the imperial system is easier to comprehend, because dealing with ratios and proportions have more clean divisions. Like, 16 breaks down to (2, 4, 8), and 12 goes by (2, 3, 4); but metric only does (2, 5). In this regard more is better, and let me illustrate the point... Ain't nobody want to slice their pizza/pie into 10 pieces, they chop once down the middle X, again down the Y, and repeat the process of division by 2 until happy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
