Thanks for the video! I was trying yesterday a WX 4150 with M4800 GPU heatsink (it was a mess) and for fan, I was using the one close to the card slot. It was really ugly and barely functional (reaching thermal throttling in 3 minutes), lol. I ordered this heatsink (you can find on ebay looking for "Heat Sink Cooler Module 43x40x36mm With Adjustable Button Silicone Set Gold") and I'll probably add a Noctua 40x40x10 fan with an usb adapter to turn it on. The only thing that I didn't understand is about mounting the arms/bracket. How did you put them? I'm not talking about screwing it on the GPU, for that I know I need a x-bracket (and my GPU already has one), I'm talking about these arms being connected with the heatsink and stuff. Also, how were the temperatures while gaming? I know M5100s are more power hungry than WX 4150s.

Also, for people that are interested: this WX 4150 has a Dell vbios and worked without any issues connecting at the first displayport (higher one). I also tested a game, but with this configuration (that I was using) thermal throttling dropped fps by half in 3 minutes, so, not ideal.

If I've understood well your question, there are insertion points on the short side of the heatsink, then once in the guide you can move back, forward and rotate the arms as you wish. About temperature, I haven't measure it yet. Actually I don't play many 3d games with this pc

Me paso exactamente lo mismo hasta que adapte un disipador y le puse la pasta térmica,se apagaba al llegar a más de 105 grados.Ahun así conseguí usarlo sin disipador subiendo la velocidad de los ventiladores en la BIOS al máximo, pero como hacía mucho ruido le puse el disipador de una placa vieja,de esos con muelles,para sujetarlo es muy fácil,pase un cable fino por los agujeros de los lados,de la GPU para que los muelles esten sujetos y listo...

sorry if kinda off topic, but i noticed that you are using the 4570, not 4570s. does the 800 g1 usdt stock cpu heatsink is capable enough to handle the non 's' cpu from overheat? i have 800 g1 usdt, but i'm still looking for a suitable cpu for it

I followed your video and installed the same additional graphics board as you. However, with the iGPU disabled, I can only display images on one display. Is it possible to show the video on two displays with the iGPU disabled and only the MXM graphic card enabled?

I don't know. Probably you have to switch between the two graphics cards. Because the pc has the vga output (and you need a vga converter for your crt, unless it has the vga input) while the new graphics card has HDMI and a display port.

Was the graphics card you installed originally out of a Dell or HP. I can find hundreds of dell m5100 on ebay for $30, but all the HP's I can find or $80+ and only have 1gb of ram.

there is plenty of these graphics cards ,over online stores, the important part is the size, in my case im planning to put a 4g on it , but its big , so cutting the metal is one of the options, also i think the maximum gpu you can put is 2 gb on the size of that compartment, the amd firepro look like the best option , i have to get a proper POWER SUPPLY , cause mine is weak so getting a 250 watt , but im going to research more about it

Sorry, I haven't used them anymore. Maybe in the future. As you can see in the video, I have used that sort of metal strings covered with plastic used in some bags. Or you can use a plastic cable tie.

I can confirm that the screws are M1.7 to secure the MXM GPU. I got an assorted box from Amazon. As soon as the new 230W power supply arrives I'm going to try the M2200M in this machine.

Sorry if I answer only now, but I've abbandoned this project, buying a HP 800 G4 and upgrading it with a GTX1650 low profile. Regarding your questions, I believe the heatsink would be good as long as it covers the main chip of the graphic board. Regarding the power supply, if you read what I've reported in the description and/or in the comments you'll see that most of graphic card update requires a more powerful power supply.

@@xbox360forever3 yes I saw on the video but you don’t say what the consequences would be and if I hook it up and it works is it OK or am I doing some type of damage? I read that on some boards it causes damage give it the proper voltage, even if it’s too small voltage, if I do upgrade the power supply, I guess I would have to use a pico in this system is that would suggest? Why did you abandon it? It’s not worth the trouble? It seems like a really cool computer. That’s why I wanted to upgrade it as much as possible and use it as my every day bud I like to use old stuff. My every day is a 2008 iMac running mint and it works better than any computer they put out today!

I agree with you, lot of "old" stuff is still good enough for many users, in fact this channel is dedicated all to Xbox 360, a console that is 18 years old. I didn't reported the consequences, because I didn't know which are. I only read about it on the hp site. Warning, a user wrote, correctly, that the graphic card I've used is some sort of depowered one. I still have the 800 G1, I've only moved it in my son's room. Now, under the tv in the living room I have a 800 G4 SFF.

Please, help me to understand better your question. Anyway, 230 W is the maximum power your power supply can supply if requested. I don't think you need so much power with your cpu and a mxm video card.

I had understood that the hp 800 G1 USDT with the large 230 watt power supply, which is the one with which you can mount MXM graphics and not with the 135 watt one, had the MXM port limited to 33 watts, what's more, try I installed a 40 watt Quadro M1000M and it didn't work for me, however later I installed a FirePro M4000 that had 33 watts and it works with it without problem. You have installed a 50 Watt FirePro M5100 and it has worked without a problem, I don't know if it is true or you have done something that I am not aware of but you do not show a single image of the computer working.

I must confess I made the video to gain 5000 views and 14 subscribers in two years 😁 Seriously speaking, my video is true and if possible I'll upload a video showing that everything works (showing also the graphic card inside). The only thing that could be wrong is they sold me a fake graphic card, because Windows recognizes it with another name, if I remember well, but they told me about. Stay tuned.

I believe so, because the 180 W power supply is very more powerful then the default one, but I can't say the most powerful graphic card you can install. Anyway, remember if you upgrade the graphic card, the bottleneck could become the cpu (is a 4th gen i5 in my case) and/or the ram. About the second, I saw some video about adapting a more powerful graphic card to this pc with some sort of adapter, at least for the sff version.

Hi dema, I hadn't this problem, anyway have you already tried what reported in the HP forums (bios settings to UEFI non legacy...and so on)? Eg: "My comment to a Amazon review for the M600M may help (concerning 8300/800 G1 USDTs): This card also works in the HP EliteDesk 800 G1 USDT, which allows for Haswell CPUs, like i5-4590S, in Windows 7/8.1/10. You have to change BIOS setting to UEFI graphics (not Legacy/CSM-mode), and use the top DisplayPort out (bottom for 8300 USDT), or else it will be running via the Intel GFX. These are some BIOS settings for 800 G1 (Note: using 2.77 BIOS, which seems to have been pulled; 2.71 is latest now): POST Mode: FullBoot, POST Messages: Enabled, Option ROM Prompt: Enabled, Integrated Video: Enabled, Legacy Support: Disabled, Secure Boot: Disabled, Fast Boot: Enabled, VTx & VTd: Enabled, AMT: Disabled, UEFI Boot Sources: Windows Boot Manager ... Samsung SSD, VGA Configuration: Nvidia VGA Controller (Primary VGA device), Option ROM Launch Policy: (all UEFI Only) Have to use minimum 180W HP power supply (for M600M). It won't boot up with the standard 135W power supply; it just beeps. Can spend a bit more and get the official HP MXM heatsink (HP Part # 689369-001), which is larger and also has pads that cover the memory chips. Not sure that's necessary for this 30W card (for 45-55W cards, below); could use generic pads with the cheaper HS mentioned in review."

Try to download the proper drivers for your video card, not by windows update. Also try to download the last direct x for windows from the Microsoft site.

Have you searched in the hp forum at link reported in one of the previous comments here? Honestly I don't believe it is possible to use that graphic board with the default power supply. You can search for the watts absorbed by the graphic board. If similar o greater than the one we have the answer is no.

For 800 g1 usdt it's no, psu should be minimum 180w, pc just doesn't start if mxm gpu is installed and 135w adaptor is used, may be it's the same for the 8200

From what I know the m5950 should be supported because it is MXM 3.0 type A like the m5100 I've installed. However, according to benchmarks the m5100, I've spent only 30 euros (about 35 dollars), it's about 40% faster than the m5950 (but please, check better by yourself because I could be wrong).

@@xbox360forever3 I been searching all forums, there is a limitation on the wattage that the motherboard supports for delivering enough power to the gpu , so far i have tried only a 2gb AMD RADEON 7650 when i put this one it does not boot , since unit is incompatible , but i just ordered another card with supposedly less voltage so 32 v seems the limit , lets see what happens in a few days
