My young brother an bought a brand new in the box company elite book with the ryzen 7 for me to have a play with tonight , i`m not sure it is exactly the same model , but it looks like it, wow that is a nice bit of gear and damned snappy too. I liked the back lit keyboard too , i was thinking about getting one of the new mac book pro`s in recent days with the M1 chiperoony , i have changed my mind i think . My first impression of it was , it was just a nice laptop with a decent amount of features , i think it had more ports than the mac book pro , but it was not over the top . The speakers sounded ok too i think , 'my brother mentioned bang and olufson audio on his work unit ? Not sure what retail price is , his company unit was i believe was 1700 ish Australian , which looks pretty cheap for our market anyway given our dollar is worth dirt if its around that neighbourhood price .. It also had 4g as well , is that common in average laptops ? It was a nice unit anyway .

Thunderbolt is all Intel left at the moment. As an eGPU user, I don't have a choice but to choose Intel. Yet, I have to be honest, the built-in TB controller of Ice Lake and Tiger Lake CPUs are amazing, not sure whether AMD has similar alternatives.

Kudos to HP for having two user upgradable ram slots in all their business line-ups. Even the 13.3" 2-in-1 laptops like ProBook x360 435 G7 and EliteBook x360 835 G7 having two user accessible ram slots whereas almost all other manufacturers now having complete soldered ram or only one slot for memory expansion, even their 14 inch models. Another good thing is they're not really much costlier than their consumer lineup, if you get them for HP authorised sellers like Provantage or Colamco. I'm using this as my daily driver and currently only way to get Ryzen 4000u series with SMT Enabled.

i always wait a bit. picked up an open box (basically brand new) for 400 usd and can't wait to see how fast it is. i use an i7 8700k desktop with 64gb ram so i plan to update this to 24 or 32 from the 16 it has but going to be doing a comparison with compile times in linux

Intel will be pretty screwed with thunderbolt 4 becoming more widespread... they really need to pull one out of the hat and I don't think Xe is going to be enough. The marketplace is going to be very interesting with Apple and AMD competing and Intel playing catch up.

ehm yeah?! you know that there are many varieties of plastic... and I guess that they used a pretty stiff sort of plastic, which in the end still is lighter than pure metall reinforcement like made of aluminium, to reinforce the aluminium body

I have a question. Is it possible to add a 4TB NVMe 2280 SSD, for example the corsair MP510 to the laptop? The MP510 chips are only installed on one side. the complete width is 3mm. Please review for the possible SSD extensions. Are there limits in the bios that say you can only put 2TB SSDs in your 845 or 855 laptop?

Am not getting the best battery performance for some reason. Especially when I closed the lid. It drains the battery in just two days of no-use I wonder what can I still do to preserve batt life like Macbooks. I have just set the power profile to power save mode just now and I hope it will truly help

@@benallmark9671 aspect ratio is the number of horizontal pixels for vertical pixels. A 16:10 aspect ratio means that for every 16 horizontal pixels, there are 10 vertical pixels. There are three popular aspect ratios, 16:9, 16:10, 3:2. 16:9 aspect ratio is good for media consumption, most of the movies, TV shows and games are made in 16:9 aspect ratio. 3:2 is perfect for professional work, since it provides vertical space. 16:10 is the middle man, it gives enough vertical space for work, and enough horizontal space for watching movies and playing games. The original post meant that business laptops are meant for work but they don't come with 16:10 or 3:2 aspect ratios. Hopefully this wasn't too long.

I've had an 845 G7 with the 4650U on backorder for a couple months now. Once its finally in and validated with our current software suite I'll be replacing all our existing aging Elitebook 840s. One other thing to note is the HP G5 USB-C dock, those of us upgrading from older 840 G3/G4 laptops must also upgrade to the new USB-C dock as the old latch style "ultraslim" docks are no longer supported.
