If this is your first HP printer, you'll need to enable wifi direct setup. To do this you will have to attach your printer via the USB cable it comes with to a laptop or device that is already connected to your wifi. Make sure you follow the same steps to download the app. That's what worked for me anyways

Also, if you hold down the cancel button for 3 seconds, this will print a configuration report which give all your printer info

If you set up your printer once it is switched on you don't need to do the setting again. If you switch on your printer in the environment the same WiFi network it will pick up your connection automatically from my smart phone app or computer

@Ellie did you down HP smart app on your Android, I am using android phone but you need to go to google play and download HP smart app on your android then search and add available printer . If you find your printer then you type in the your WIFI password to connect the printer to WIFI network. It also allow Bluetooth on during the connection.

unless your printer is not wireless then use USB cable to connect your printer , you can also use USB Cable to connect then remove it when you establish wireless connection
