I have a compact 3 in 1 HP color m281dw printer. When I scan with the scanner, it erases naturally, and the image is fine, and the printer prints properly and with excellent clarity. My problem is when I make copies of a photo or document, the paper appears with many lines, what is the cause of the problem and what is the solution

Clean top glass mirror… if the same problem… you have to clean the scanner lamp… and check the scanner flat cable

Solution !! Downgrade manufacturer's update = via a firmware delivery program for M280-M281 (so ftp transfer Not needed). 1.) Find this zipfile on the net from a legit source: M280 M281_HP_LaserJet_Pro_M280_M281_Printer_series_20200612 W10.64 2.) download/extract. **NOTE: it is in the Interest of Print/Toner SUPPLIERS to solve this, so that's where i looked for this download. The first step should always be - Disable the Automatic Updates: Go to M281's Setup menu Select Service Select Laserjet Update Select MANAGE Updates Select Allow Downgrade and choose - YES Select Check Automatically and Choose - OFF. Prompt Before Install and choose - ALWAYS Select Allow Updates and Choose - NO Download and extract the zip file. 3.) Open/run the firmware package that you have extracted and then find/choose your printer model: m280-m281 versions 4.) Click Send Firmware to start the process. Your printer screen should then say: "Programming" After 5-10 min. you should be able to print with compatible toners again. Hope this helps others, the way it saved me !

what if the model is MFP M283FDW? will the firmware will work ?

For new firmware you cannot use compatibles toner except if the toner chips was updated for 283model… otherwise you need to downgrade the firmware

Hello. I have the problem that I can hardly print with AirPrint. I have to keep turning the printer on and off. at some point it will work. Is that because of the old firmware? Firmware date 20200612
