Everytime I miss flying because of Covid, I go to the development lab and turn one of these on. It looks exactly like an aircraft still on the ground waiting for the pushback.

Thank you for the video. I think the fan profile can be changed from the BIOS setup. For e5 2620 I would not expect heating problems, but should you use other higher CPU, unless you upgrade fan speed in the BIOS, you will find the CPU running relatively hot. Ambient temperature is pivotal.

you mean you can set the fan curve in bios to make it better than default ? just got my hands on one recently and it feels loud in my office with two 2650v0s in it

Since there are thousands of combinations and the power consumption (power is not consumed, only consumed and converted), etc. related to the efficiency of the power supply units, it is not possible to say exactly how much Power is required or consumed

When my DL380p Gen8 is fully booted and has all my VM's running, it's at about 69-70 watts usually, haven't tested it with a full load, it has a E5-2660 and 32GB ram and is the 12bay model.

There's an iLO mod that you can easily do to be able to control fans through SSH. Before the mod I had fans at ~60% on the right side but now I can set them to about 17% and still keep temps under control

HELLO Sir John Miller. first I want to thank you for your very uplifting videos. I am IT support in a structure. I have a problem. in our company we use a proliant HP L380 Gen9 server. However, for about 2 weeks, the server which is never shut down has behaved strangely. Indeed from time to time the fan of the server turns at high speed becoming noisy and stops a few moments later. this happens permanently at least 10 times a day. please i would like your assistance this situation is too stressful. Thanks in advance.

The use of a Dell monitor will increase the fan speed and noise level. You have to use an HP monitor for 90% less noise from fans. The Dell monitor causes the fans to whine. Haha

The monitor is not even connect to the HP DL380 G8. You can clearly see the VGA connector on the HP server is not plug in(on left screen) so not sure what we are seeing on the monitor??? ***On side note my gen7 have a bios dated 2015 and this gen8 still in 2013... time to do a little firmware update!! & to ilo4 too!)***

I just purchased a DL380p 12xLFF version, 2xE5-2670 v2's 192GB of memory and it runs unraid just fine. But it's no where near as silent as this model. I am running a couple cards though, Quadro P2000, nvme pcie adapter card and a HBA.
@nowrath2371
@nowrath2371 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will run Unraid. Since Unraid wants to manage the disks by itself, configure all disks as single Raid 0 and you'll be good to go. Unraid will build the appropriate RAID depending on what drives you activate.
