A small upgrade to HP Z420 motherboard to support newer Ivy Bridge processor family. Yes it's old but it's still an ok processor and costs next to nothing.
V1 motherboards are exactly the same as V2 but the boot block prevents using the newer Ivy Bridge processors.
This video addresses that issue.
Boot block is write protected when the computer is on so you need something else to program that portion of the bios, there are good tutorials online for the problem and this is just my take on the problem.
I used soldering as I have the tools for it. But some may use the raspberry Pi method.
