That green is a significant color. Many vintage engines, especially truck and industrial engines, were that cilor.

When I was a younger builder I really didn't care for the curb side or snap style kits but as I've gotten older I have realized that some of these kits are absolutely amazing and detailed and make for a less stressful and awesome finished model.

Very relaxing to watch a model being built. I saw this kit far sale by Italeri, but went for an Italeri Mercedes Actros Giga Space truck kit instead. Italeri truck kits are some of the best, amazing chassis and engine datails witj beatifully moulded cabs. They do a few US trucks like Peterbilts in 1 24 scale.

@@iancadwallender9779 Range Rovers used to be proper off road utility vehicles with few frills (build quality never a strong point), now they are chintzy over complicated 4x4 hand bags on wheels which will probably never see a blade of grass never mind off roading 🤣. On another poin, Italeri truck kits are challenging because the detail and parts count is usually huge, which is why I like them.

Great build! Like the colour, but can't remember if Rover had something close to that in the range in the early 70's? There was a green which was not too far off. My only 'critique' of the kit (NOT your build!) is the proportions of the tyres (or tires as you spell it!) They seem to bulky to me. Early Range Rovers had quite skinny looking tyres, which looked a little undersized for the bulk of the body above. Other than that, nice to see a Eurpoean car I remember well from my childhood.

The V8 used in the Range Rovers was originally an all-alloy unit designed and used by Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac from the 1961 model year: due to various problems with the engine, , the tooling was sold to Rover in the UK in 1965. Mass production of various iterations of the engine was finally halted in 2004, after 37 years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rover_V8_engine

The 1st "classic" Range Rover was built up using the frame, engine, exhaust and transmission from an IH Scout ll. In other words, the undercarriage and drivetrain. I had a '72 IH scout and it was a tank. Go anywhere, do anything.

Cool, never knew that. Thanks!

Are you sure about that? I've never heard that before. I do know they tested competing vehicles including the IH at Eastnor Castle to fine tune the design. The RR was certainly inspired by American vehicles and used a Buick derived engine, but it was a totally in-house design by Spen King at Rover.

Yes, I'm sure. The very 1st "classic" Range Rover was sporting a drivetrain and running gear from an IH scout ll. When I was young (and owned a '72 IH Scout ll) I read in a car magazine (with a picture of the frames and running gears lined up for export) about the introduction of the Range Rover by Land Rover. I was sooooooooo proud that I owned an IH Scout ll and that Land Rover would use the frame, running and the drivetrain from an IH scout ll.
