AMT 1965 CHEVY CHEVELLE AWB "TIME MACHINE" 1:25 SCALE MODEL KIT AMT1302 1302
The 1965 Chevy Chevelle Altered Wheelbase Funny Car “Time Machine” is back and better than ever. This highly requested classic returns with all-new tooling built from the ground up.

The kit is fully paintable and includes an expanded water-slide decal sheet that allows you to customize the engine size call out for whichever size you want it to represent.
All of this and more inside AMT’s vintage-style packaging that duplicates the original “Time Machine” 1967 box which has both the 427 and 475 call outs.
FEATURES:
1:25 scale, skill level 2, paint & glue required
76 parts
Molded in white, clear, transparent red, and some chrome-plated parts
Black vinyl tires
Built scale: 8 inches
The Chevrolet Chevelle is a mid-sized automobile that was produced by Chevrolet in three generations for the 1964 through 1978 model years. Part of the General Motors (GM) A-body platform, the Chevelle was one of Chevrolet's most successful nameplates. Body styles included coupes, sedans, convertibles, and station wagons. The "Super Sport" versions were produced through the 1973 model year and Lagunas from 1973 through to 1976.[1]
After a four-year absence, the El Camino was reintroduced as part of the new Chevelle lineup in 1964.
The G-body Monte Carlo, introduced in 1970, also used a platform that was based heavily on the Chevelle platform, although it was lengthened ahead of the firewall.
From 1964 through 1969, GM of Canada sold a modified version of the Chevelle that included a Pontiac-style grille and a LeMans instrument panel, marketed as the Beaumont.
The Malibu was the top-of-the-line model through 1972 and completely replaced the Chevelle nameplate starting with the redesigned and downsized 1978 model year.
The automobile marketplace was changing significantly during the early 1960s and became competitive in the smaller-sized car segments.[4] The domestic Big Three automakers (General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler) were responding to the success of American Motors' compact Rambler American and Classic models that made AMC the leading maker of small cars for several years and increasing Rambler on the 1961 domestic sales charts to third-place behind Chevrolet and Ford.[5] The innovative Chevrolet Corvair and the Chevy II, which was designed to compete with Ford's Falcon, were losing ground.[6] Ford released the mid-sized Fairlane in 1962, to which Chevrolet responded with the 1964 Chevelle based on a new A platform design.[6] Built on a 115-inch (2,900 mm) wheelbase, the new Chevelle was similar in size, simplicity, and concept to what were classified as the "standard-sized" 1955-1957 Chevrolet models.[6] The Chevelle was the U.S. auto industry's only all-new car for 1964 and was positioned to fill the gap between the small Chevy II and the full-sized Chevrolet models.[7] Introduced in August 1963 by "Bunkie" Knudsen, the Chevelle filled the gap in market coverage for Chevrolet and achieved sales of 338,286 for the year.
Starting in mid-1964, the Chevelle could be ordered with the division's 327-cubic-inch V8, in either 250 or 300 hp (224 kW). Both used a four-barrel carburetor and 10.5:1 compression. For 1965, Chevrolet also added the 350-hp 327 V8 as a Regular Production Option (RPO) L79. A total of 294,160 Chevelles were built in the first year, including 76,860 SS models.[14] After 1965, the Malibu SS badge disappeared except for those sold in Canada. A limited 201 Malibu SS 396 'Z-16' big-block-equipped cars were also eventually produced starting in late 1965, with most being built between mid-March and mid-April.

In 1965 I started to "build" my 1957 Pontiac Super Chief 348 into a drag racer. Isky cam, dual AFB's, 2 ½ inch exhaust with side cut outs, high RPM stall speed B&M Hydro Stick trans, Posi-track rear end with M&H Street Slicks as rear tires. By 1966 I thought I had a winner. Then my Uncle came for me and scooped me up. While away, my little brother decided to "modify" the car as an "Art Project". Bye bye Pontiac. But - Hello hpiguys Workshop - the memory saver. Thanks for the build, Chris - FINE machine!

Gotta love the gassers ! Then you throw in the altered w/b 😜 Most cars look ok w/ altered w/b ....but not a 65' Chevelle (can't remember ever seeing 1) but.... who cares the crazier the better after all its a Gasser Man 😉 Many drag strips across the US are having old school Gasser days. So cool seeing old and new gassers blasting down the 1320' 🙂👍 I hope they never go away ! Thank you for bringing back lots of old memories and creating new ones.... great build man ✌️🙂

I began building scale model cars mid '64, and remember this AWB model well from '65. Never thought I'd STILL be building them after all these years ! Back then, I didn't have many spare parts, but now I love to open one of these kits, and add details from my parts box I didn't have . I do remember this kit had 4-into-1 headers, and I've already found the set which I'll add to mine when the kit becomes available.

WOW! I built this back in the late 60's! I believe the original kits had stack injectors instead of a blower, not sure. Malcolm Durham had a similar car, called Strip Blazer, back in 66. The oil pan is backwards. It should be rear sump. Very nice.

good to see this un back----have built all these "funny car" kits over the years and have always been concerned as to what keeps the rear fenders from drooping as there is a lot of air between the rear frame rails and the rear bumpers---also glad to see the "rubber" tires although the plastic tires didnt look to bad(just my opinion) if you painted them and scrapped the paint off the letters---oh my cure for the "floating" rear fenders was a piece of sheet plastic and some half round tubing

Nicely done kit from Round 2, and great build, Chris... However, here comes the rant, and sadly, I'm gonna be that guy... Subject-wise, it's a dud for me. I'm 42, I done my share of muscle cars and got them out of my system, but there's not much from my era in model form, kinda like model companies took a little break from the mid eighties to mid nineties. For how long can you keep re-popping the same 60's and 70"s kits? They seem to spend all their money on sci-fi,, then on kits appealing on seasoned and old-time modelers, but not enough to bring the younger generations in the hobby. The classic snowball effect; less customers coming in the hobby, less money, less new kits, repopping old kits is cheaper, and you get a dying hobby in the end. If anyone from the model manufacturing is offended, go ahead and contact me; I've got enough experience in the auto business to be of some help!!!!

@@purpurahaze9179 Don't worry dude, I've seen the reissues; my wallet can attest to that thanks to Chris hahaha!!! It's just that many obvious 80's-90's classics are still missing... Where are the Jeep XJ Cherokee/MJ Comanche, Grand Wagoneer, squarebody GM Suburban, OJ Simpson era Ford Bronco,, 1994 Ford Probe, AMC Eagle, Chevy S-10 BAJA,, 1986 Toyota 4Runner and pickup, Mazda MX-3 Precidia, a proper non-curbside Suzuki Samurai,, to name a few...

@@Trueno1600 I've seen some Probe kits a stock one and a IMSA one from back in the day. Far as a OJ Bronco you would have to use one of the 80's ones and use the newer grille and taillights. There are some websites that have old kits at reasonable prices and factory sealed
