I have a question. In the case somebody gets HPV 16 in their mouth, which is asymptomatic, HOW is it possible that there are so many statements out there that say "your body mostly clears the infection within 2 years". I mean, this sounds just like an assumption because there are no tests to prove it. How can somebody say that oral HPV infections are pretty much transient when there are no tests available to make the statistic even work? Where is the proof that the virus left my body and isnt just dormant somewhere in a cell waiting for my immune system to weaken and than strikes? How can doctors even make the claim about clearing the virus from a persons body. Please answer me this. Thank you

@@mydpisloading1083 - Not to scare you but to inform you from experiance... Don't fear HPV itself, but do pay close attention to the symptoms it causes and where early signs of trouble ususlly appear. As a 67-year-old male, I have just been notified that I have HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer of the left base of tongue and left tonsil. It started out as a routine sore throat and left ear pain but did not go away within a few weeks as usual. Most cases start out with a lump somewhere on the neck but not mine, I had no lumps! Last weeks surgical biopsy confirmed it is HPV+ cancer. Now it looks like radiation and chemo are my only choices as the tumor is likely too large for even robotic surgery to remove. I highly recommend an ENT visit to evaluate your tonsils sooner rather than later and have a biopsy done if suspicious. Because HPV+ cases in males almost always appear out of the blue in the oropharynx (back of the throat) they are extremely difficult to see or find by regular doctors but respond much better to treatments than HPV negative cases. The only way mine was found was by my ENT putting his finger down my throat and feeling the tumor at the base of my tongue. The sooner you are diagnosed the better... Hang in there broither and do not procrastinate!
