The real issue here is the elimination of racing back to the line. The Green, White, Checker rules don't prevent crashes often it creates them. The GWC rule causes more crashes and desperate actions plus it's financially costly to teams. The GWC is more dangerous than racing back to the line. The rule should be at all tracks 1.5 miles or longer. For the white flag lap you race to the line. If there's a crash in turns 1 or 2, on the back straightaway, in or exiting turn 4: Let them race to the line.

Harry Gant was hired as an consultant by Hendricks Motor sports in 1995!! You are showing your ignorance. Gant is responsible for teaching Gordon how to set up the camber in his rear tires which allowed Gordon to get in and out if his turns faster than any other driver for 10 years!! This was the key to his championship runs!!

Racing’s last great year was 2003.. point system was good having to race all year, teams, and cars.. 2004 had a lot of good racing & moments but the point system has just made things not as good.. nascar tries to recreate those magical years and moments.. so they make a point system where 4 cars go to homestead tied.. 🤦🏻‍♂️

This Race Should have been a Re-start with 2 or 3 to go, a Race for the Checker. I’m not mad that Gordon won because it is debatable whether or not he was in the lead when the caution was thrown, I’m mad at the Fashion in which he Won. It was handed to him.

@@haydenrose866 What I loved so much about the plate races in the 2000's was how it appeared skill was more involved than luck like it is now. (the Gen 4 package was amazing) The Plate program for Dega and Daytona from 2001 - 2007 was basically DEI, HMS and Tony Stewart. It was awesome racing. The three largest fan bases and rivals going against each other and always showing up.

I was there, Gordon and Earnhardt battled back and forth for quite a while. Jr would pull ahead coming out of the turns and Gordon would pull ahead in going in and through the turns. I personally though Jr's car was a little faster and he was ahead when they would come across the line. But, no doubt Gordon was ahead when caution flew.....

"Every beer can out there has a little message on it." -Dale Jr on Jeff Gordon 'winning' this race. To this day, I believe that race's outcome was assisted. And obviously in later years, it seemed more and more like Gordon and Johnson were getting a little help from bizarre decisions made by NASCAR. Not bashing the drivers, but definitely bashing NASCAR trying to make them their golden boys.

"Every beer can out there has a little message on it." -Dale Jr on Jeff Gordon 'winning' this race. Not all of it, it was more towards NASCAR for basically giving Jeff the win. To the fans, it was Jr, but to the media, it was Gordon. Nascar hyped up Gordon, but do you know why? It's a business and since Gordon was a unique driver, it's about money in the end. But to make the argument Nascar was helping Gordon, you're ignoring the seasons he went winless and missed championships. In 2015, he literally got ONE win. Even now, I don't see Nascar hyping up Jimmie to be honest for being a 7 time champion. I mean, let's be real, this is a bad point dude.
