If you allow yourself to dance, move, walk, shuffle, bob your head, tap your foot or do some kind of rhythmic movement with your body, it helps your time, feel, pulse and groove. And as a bassist, that is essential. This is one of those things they don't emphasize enough in music schools. Bassists - among other kinds of musicians - that don't move, don't groove. When we hear good music, our bodies' natural response is to dance. Like James Brown, Gary is "on the good foot!"

@Cambodia69 Sooo true, as a 'former' drummer for 20 years I am still trying to understand why the concept 'groove' seems so lost on high-level/technical musicians. That's the wonderful thing about ScottH/Willis/Kinsey etc, they make that kind of music belong to the listening body, not just an abstract exersice in technique
