My stepdad was a retired railroader (32 years) and he built an O gauge layout in their backyard in NY, then another when they moved to Florida. Those were beautiful, but this would have been the layout of Bill's dreams. Thank you for sharing this and giving me some fond memories of my stepdad bonding with my sons over those trains.

I know it's an older video but I just found it & have to say, it's an exquisite layout, I really dig the many different levels & all the tunnels & other elements you've put into this model railroad. One of the best parts is ya'll didn't edit in music, really groovy to just hear the train & nature & leave it at that. The train was even running at a great speed, not too slow but not too fast either, excellent job, especially on the construction of your incredible layout, easily one of the very best I've seen yet!!

Thank you for this. My Grandfather (b. 1915) always wanted to get our Lionel to run across the yard to see how fast they would get up to. We are in Waterbury, CT. Not a flat piece of land around. Ours looks very much like your area. You made great use of materials. We are a bit Irish shanty ourselves. We don’t aim to be. Just the way it is. Excellent what you have done.

I grew up in Roseville, CA and only 1/2 block from the Southern Pacific Ice Plant. I walked by the Ice Plant for 5 years to and from school. I have had a lot of friends and family worked for the SP/UP and always have had a love for Trains. I am 67 and will always look down track when crossing to see if there an incoming train.

Giant Strawberries!! What a lot of work and a fine layout! You can tell it's modeled after a european train system, there are no concessions to mobility-impaired boarding the train. Very accurate to detail.

SO cool!! I loved how it made the strawberries look giant next to the small train. It would be cool to be able to have one that would bring your gardening supplies over to where you need them...or put a load of strawberries into a car and drive it to the house. 🙂
