Today we go 250kms in to the bush to rescue the HR Holden Wagon that once belonged to an old friend (or so we thought). This is one of the most complete bush wrecks we have ever found. But it sure did not want to come home.

Hi just came across this video, took me back a few. My Dad had a 1968 Holden Special(that's what they were called in South Africa) sedan that he bought for a farmer. It had a Chev 3,8 straight 6 and 3 on the tree. When going home he mistook 1st for 3d an promptly blew up the clutch😭. We got that replaced and she ran like a Swiss watch for years. He sold her on after about 10 years.

A little bit of everything, broken down, stolen, run out of fuel. When these cars where left behind they where worth nothing, so no one ever came back for them.

Back in those days if there was a mechanic or a tow truck driver available, tea, flower or tobacco wasn't an acceptable as a method of payment. Now days is not much different. That car breaks down or runs out of fuel, they might wait a day to get a lift to town or community and by the time they get the chance to recover the car the wheels have gone, the windscreen is smashed or key parts have been knocked off.

Point taking about the tow hitch, we are looking in to getting a proper set up now we are getting a bit more serious about the rescues. As for claiming the vehicles the short answer is you need to locate the last owner and get written permission from them to take the vehicle.
