Josh one thing I agree with you is all that licenses just to speak on a radio. We are not all designers, and engineers, we just want to be connected and have ppl to talk to.

This is not only in radio equipment. Somewhere between 2007-9, there was a time when for example cycling equipment (I am talking predominantly about MTB, road is not that bad) have best performance/price ratio ever. Now, if I want to replicate parameters of 3000 € bike from 2008/9, I must add another approx. 2-3 k€. On the top of that, instead of instant buying there are waiting lists without any warranty it will be delivered until the end of the season...

Should have got the Cyber Truck... Only EV that tempts me. Many retailers seem to be using the excuse parts especially chip shortage is driving up demand, not just for ham electronics but for every electronic they can use that BS line on...

Barrier to entry is just insane as it is. And buying twice isn’t an option. Have two base stations where one only does vhf/uhf and one only does vhf/hf makes no sense to me. New hams want all in one. Why did yaesu stop making the 957!! Or the ic706!?! Those two do everything from my very new standpoint (someone prove me wrong). Why do people spend $3500 on a 100watt hf radio?

It's called marketing. Radio manufacturers are in the business of maximizing profits. Also the all in ones aren't "good performers" because the manufacturers get to set the baseline. They could absolutely make them perform better but they choose not to so you have to spend more money.
