I understand that it’s time we call Indian film industry. But in the past when Bollywood was successful - never did a Bollywood star say to call Bollywood's success as Indian film industry's success. The world assumed India was only about Bollywood until Baahubali and never did a Bollywood star ever say to the media that India had other industries as well, in the past. So South Indian movies deserve their success and recognition.

But now suddenly Bollywood wants their movies to be recognised as Indian movies, just to profit on the success of other Indian movies and to avoid affiliation with Bollywood. So I think it’s unfair that Bollywood again is trying to profit off on other industries hardwork when Bwood didn’t contribute anything to the emergence if Indian cinema.

For example, Bengali cinema was at its prime and we all know about Satyajit ray's achievement Internationally but a lot of ppl in the west still think Satyajit ray was a bollywood filmmaker and his movies are Bollywood movies. Atleast ppl could do was to call Satyajit ray's movies as Indian movies but Bollywood media overshadowed and hogged the success of other regional movies from India. I mean shitheads from BBC refers to Indian cinema as Bollywood and there were several media outlets calling Baahubali as a Bollywood film and not an Indian film. - Now south cinema is successful and Bollywood is trying to integrate themselves into this success by calling it their success using umbrella term Indian cinema. Success of south helps other regional cinema to grow as well and regional cinema should separate itself from Bollywood nexus. Indian cinema should encompass all regional film industries. - Also in the video, host asked specifically about South cinema - so i commented accordingly.

Every country has simalar regional languages variations e.g North UK englisch is different, Scottisch english is different, Ireland english is different, wales English is different. But only in india the regions like tamil nadu create so much problems to adopt a national language, FOOLS. Well! This whole thing of remaking Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam movies in Hindi itself is creating a separate sense of South Indian cinema and Bollywood. If artists and movie makers genuinely care about it, they need to promote movies from each industries in other industries. There is no need to remake a movie that is originally made in one languageto another. Instead industries could work together and support the original version and that will only result in better financial success of movies. Also, South Indian movie doesn't only mean huge films like RRR, KGF or Pushpa. Where are movies like Jai Bhim, Sarpatta Parambarai, Malayankunju, Minnal Murali, or Jana Gana Mana. So this is again going in a circle and creating another Bollywood in Telugu. That too only for huge Telugu films not films like 777 Charlie which should be discussed more.

Also I agree with indian cinema thing as whole and not doing the disparity but just like bollywood made it's existence, other industries also worked hard to be recognised and known. Now that they are doing better, to dilute it in name of nationalism doesn't sound right to me. It took decades for South industries to gain attention in mainstream and now that they are, to dilute their existence isn't right. Instead there should be clear different identities of diff industries even though they can crossover for a single project. All should be one and known as indian cinema but inside it there should be different language cinema catering to it's own audience. Would just say don't dilute regional cinema into just indian cinema. And vica versa.

I understand Hrithik's viewpoint about not dividing south and north, but when Bollywood back 2 decades ago was the biggest and most successful industry no Bollywood star have ever said that. Everything was about Bollywood and it's now a western stereotype. I don't think that's fair because both north and south have distinct features that make them 'north' and 'south' with south dominating bollywood in all areas with a huge language barrier.
