Wunderschöne und tiefempfundene Aufführung dieser unvollendeten doch perfekt komponierten Sinfonie mit seidigen Tönen aller Streicher, milden Tönen aller Holzbläser und brillanten Tönen aller Blechbläser. Der zweite Satz klingt echt schön und auch beruhigend. Die intelligente und geniale Dirigentin leitet das ausgezeichnete Orchester im gut betrachteten Tempo und mit künstlerisch kontrollierter Dynamik. Wunderbar vom Anfang bis zum Ende!

The seventh or eighth symphony according to the traditional numbering is nicknamed « The Unfinished », given that Franz Schubert only completed two movements. Only a few sketches of the third movement are available, which are clearly of lower quality than the previous movements. This might suggest that Schubert intended to make it a four-movement symphony. We will probably never know why he abandoned his project. What is certain is that even unfinished, this symphony is a unique masterpiece of its kind. Besides the three-beat time signature of the two movements and the unusual tonality in B minor, the oppressive opening of this symphony is very singular. From the low, felted strings rises a plaintive theme, which develops slowly. The same melancholic and consoling atmosphere surrounds the second movement. An introverted composer, Schubert drew inspiration and found kinship in the delicate verses of poets such as Goethe, Schiller and Heine, whose emotional content he translates into music like no one else. *Lucien*

Schubert was so ashamed of the other two movement that he wrote it under a pen name. You'll discover that it is called the Unbegun Symphony by Peter Schickele.

Anna Handler ist besser als die Spanierin Isabel Costes. Beim unvollendeten Schubert haben sie eine neue Nummerierung vorgenommen und es ist bei der siebten geblieben.
