I simply adore the first movement of Mozart's Horn Concerto in E-flat major K. 495...🥰🎶 It is a living testament of the horn's lyrical and technical capabilities, where the soloist effortlessly weaves intricate runs, arpeggios, and ornamentations into a seamless tapestry of music that is both virtuosic and expressive.🎵🎶

@davidcottrell13084 жыл бұрын
@@MrJimSir not really so outlandish....memorization of a solo is pretty standard...and composing one's own cadenza is expected....he does play well!!!! (some strange breathing spots...and a fingered trill(?????)..c'mon, dude....lip it!!!)
@mirkhorn4 жыл бұрын
@@davidcottrell1308 what’s so surprising about the finger trill? I guess you’re talking about the one at the end of the exposition which is a semitone trill ( A-Bb in real pitch or E-F for written notation). Everybody plays it with fingers, otherwise it would sound too out of tune for a modern concept of horn playing. I’m sure you heard that through the whole rest of the concert he lip trills every tone trill there is, for istance the very well played trill at the end of the cadenza. Hope I helped..
@davidcottrell13084 жыл бұрын
@@mirkhorn truth be told, for classical/baroque music there were no valves....
@mirkhorn4 жыл бұрын
@@davidcottrell1308 of course, but this player is using a modern instrument and every single modern soloist is doing the semitone trill in the same way, with valves ( I already wrote the reason in my previous comment). So my point is I just keep finding your clarification uselessly polemic. If you prefer, look for philological performances with period instruments. There they will lip trill whatever you like since they don’t have any other chance! Enjoy bye

At all levels - selection of pieces , chance given to young soloists and conductors, adapting FRS musicians either at a "camera ensemble" or "philarmonic" ambiance, a glimmering bright breeze of Music to the benefit to us, simple bur grateful listeners. Just a small sugestion, if I may - pieces of Clara Schuman, Grieg, Debussy and Hindemith, if possible. Thank you so much and best greetings from Cascais, Portugal.

Just wow. Best performance I've heard since listening to Dennis Brain recordings (and probably over a hundred times listing to them). Just beautiful playing in every way. I especially like that solo horn was more along the lines of playing along with the orchestra instead of on top of it. Some simply play out too loud for my tastes. I think Mr. Gruber's interpretation is much more musical.

One of my four childhood favorites. The others were Mozart's 2nd horn Concerto, Hyden's E flat Trumpet Concerto and Haydn's Surprise Symphony. I remember coming to the realization that there were two kinds of music I was listening to as a kid. Music written for children and music written for adults. I started hating the children's music, the people who made it were patronizing me as if I was too stupid to appreciate Mozart and Hayden.
