Not going to the Leeds and Manchester is a disgrace. It's made me fall out of love a lot with HS2 a lot. I was so excited. Now it doesn't even unlock the full potential. I think you've done an amazing job with what is being delivered. Well done.

All HS2 is a new Hi Speed line to take hi speed passenger trains off the South section of the WCML from Stafford to London Euston aafter the failure to upgrade this section of the WCML which will allow more capacity on the WCML for other passenger train services and freight services, it will be connected to Manchester and Liverpool and Euston. No way would this line of been built to Leeds as it is qucicker to London from Leeds via the ECML

@@peterwilliamallen1063 Umm, the projected London - Leeds journey time was 1h21m, which is 50 minutes faster than today's fastest journey time of 2h11m. In any case, that also ignores all the other benefits of the eastern leg such as reductions in journey times from Birmingham to the East Midlands and beyond to Leeds, as well as the enormous amounts of capacity relief to the MML and ECML.

@@slimchris113 That is where you are wrong, The line is now going to Manchester and any connection to Leeds will be by a Northern high speed link across the Pennines but sorry to correct you but HS2 will not be useless with out Leeds as when it Opens all Avanti West Coast trains from Scotland, Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham will transfer to run on HS2 instead of the WCML from Stafford to London. So actually a Leeds branch is insignificant passenger number wise as the HS2 line is just an upgrade of the Southern Half of the WCML

No manchester or leeds branch makes HS2 a worthless project. Phase 1 cannot save it or any bs alternative by labour
