Thank you for this informative video. Having travelled through Rugby for decades, that is one BIG hole in the ground. I take my hat off to the planners and co-ordination which are obviously involved to make this look seamless.

Diesel trains, diesel waste handlers, all on a governmental project when said government are pushing electric. Can you imagine trying to do this with an extension lead! 🤣
@PurpleandCoRailwayAdventures2 күн бұрын
A Greta panel (Solar panel) wouldn't do it neither 😆
@neilcrawford8303Күн бұрын
Not as daft as it sounds. Many quarries and mines use electric rope or hydraulic face shovels like the CAT 6060. They are powered through a cable. Likewise, many material handlers are electric powered from manufacturers like Terex-Fuchs or Sennebogen. Those two material handlers on site could have been electric, assuming there is sufficient power available from the local grid, which isn't always the case.

when this project is completed in 2/3 years time the railway line will disappear when the nature reserve is constructed as i assume there will be no further use for it, unless if part funded by the cement company a small railway station/platform could be created for people to travel to the reserve since a concrete platform already exits but also incorporate a bus stopping service say the Coventry service to and from, but could also provide a service for people who live close to the reserve who travel to other destinations by train on a regular basis. that means people from Cawston, Bilton, Long Lawford etc could travel to here instead of Rugby station looking for parking when space could be provided here, catch a train from here to the main station then change platfoms depending on your destination and return at the days end hopefully easing on some of the traffic jams in the mornings. Could be a use for college students in the mornings/afternoons as well.

HS2 "say" it's going to be made into a wildlife sanctuary but the reality is, they don't give a toss about the environment. Are you aware that they've already incurred numerous fines for multiple breaches of environmental issues? Thousands of trees planted along the route in Warwickshire where the vast majority perished due to lack of aftercare. The pollution of streams, rivers & other waterways with toxic chemicals. The bulldozing of mile upon mile of hedgerows containing nesting birds when they specifically promised to wait until the nesting season was over. The whole sorry project has been an environmental disaster since day one & continues to be so.

On the Kenilworth road between Balsall Common and Hampton in Arden there is that much mud that HS2 leave on the road I'm surprised they have any left to take to Rugby. As a note I was at a set of HS2 traffic lights today and one of their employees was asleep in the cab of a large green tractor. Wish I could get a job like that, their on 50k a year I hear

How do I get to be a HS2 Gate Warden and what qualifications are needed? Ideally I'd like to be the one who supervises the other two who do the gate opening donkey work. Good employment prospects for sure as it will take a VERY long time to fill that hole. If they create a deep cold lake it will be another spot for kids to get into trouble in the water the hot summers.
