Diesel trains, diesel waste handlers, all on a governmental project when said government are pushing electric. Can you imagine trying to do this with an extension lead! 🤣
@PurpleandCoRailwayAdventuresАй бұрын
A Greta panel (Solar panel) wouldn't do it neither 😆
@neilcrawford8303Ай бұрын
Not as daft as it sounds. Many quarries and mines use electric rope or hydraulic face shovels like the CAT 6060. They are powered through a cable. Likewise, many material handlers are electric powered from manufacturers like Terex-Fuchs or Sennebogen. Those two material handlers on site could have been electric, assuming there is sufficient power available from the local grid, which isn't always the case.

Wet clay is the hardest material handling! Safety is the priority on HS2. Slow & Steady wins the race!
@_Ben4810Ай бұрын
Bwahaha...!!! Slow & Steady wins the race...??? This is a valuable snapshot of when money is clearly no object, so let's spend spend spend on unnecessary infrastructure (it's a muck rail handling terminal that has armco barrier & 6m high fence) heavy equipment (needs two handling grabs + operators to unload a muckaway train...?) & 3 people to open a gate, & the obvious "we're on a good one here lads, let's drag it out for ourselves" The Slow & Steady beliefs & working practices have no place in public funded infrastructure projects. It's a cancerous belief that is dragging down many a major construction project. 🙄

when this project is completed in 2/3 years time the railway line will disappear when the nature reserve is constructed as i assume there will be no further use for it, unless if part funded by the cement company a small railway station/platform could be created for people to travel to the reserve since a concrete platform already exits but also incorporate a bus stopping service say the Coventry service to and from, but could also provide a service for people who live close to the reserve who travel to other destinations by train on a regular basis. that means people from Cawston, Bilton, Long Lawford etc could travel to here instead of Rugby station looking for parking when space could be provided here, catch a train from here to the main station then change platfoms depending on your destination and return at the days end hopefully easing on some of the traffic jams in the mornings. Could be a use for college students in the mornings/afternoons as well.

HS2 "say" it's going to be made into a wildlife sanctuary but the reality is, they don't give a toss about the environment. Are you aware that they've already incurred numerous fines for multiple breaches of environmental issues? Thousands of trees planted along the route in Warwickshire where the vast majority perished due to lack of aftercare. The pollution of streams, rivers & other waterways with toxic chemicals. The bulldozing of mile upon mile of hedgerows containing nesting birds when they specifically promised to wait until the nesting season was over. The whole sorry project has been an environmental disaster since day one & continues to be so.

This damning video should be shown across British Industry to showcase precisely how NOT to run any company! 3 of the slowest semi-moving clowns (let's call them Hughie, Louie and don't Doie) waddling along having a nice chat while the muck train waits for them to open a gate. Normal person - 1 minute tops. These clowns on a Government project - 10 minutes. I'm curious what 3rd guy - The one that does precisely NOTHING - get's paid p.a? Little wonder if this is how slow and disorganised unloading a simple muck-train is on HSR2 it's become the most expensive train line in the world. Connecting a place outside London knowbody has ever heard of to Birmingham - A place few people want to go! Management 'should' be held accountable for three idiots and sack them immediately without pay or redundency. Probably easily find new jobs in Snr. civil service positions.

Whole thing a waste of money. Railways carry 20% of movement of people and cost us near 12 billion and people complain of aircraft carriers cost that defend us. All HS 2 does is make Birmingham a suburb of London for rich Lodoners - the Taxpayer will still be expected to subsidise it , while it costs us at least 66 billion to build. Bring back Beeching- he was a sound business man, he would have cancelled it. The road user generates something like 20 billion for the Government.
