The year after this movie came out, I went to the beach on vacation with my best friend and her family. We rode with her uncle to a restaurant and when he dropped us off at our hotel (where there were tons of people sitting around outside) this CD was in his van (they have three young kids) and he blared this on purpose and danced like a maniac in the front seat. Simultaneously hilarious and humiliating.

That's because that is Drew Seely. The people who made the movie didn't think he could pull off the singing so they had Drew do it. He sang a lil bit though. In HSM2 he definately sang though

Troy and Gabriella are getting along with each other and hanging out though i don't know that but it will work out well i am noy that sure between musical and basketball game scholastic decathlon or drama club troy ia like terrified right now and not sure and what to do with it and Gabriella is on easy taking care of herself and she is really a good person and singer and she's good at decathlon.

He said in an interview shortly after the movie came out that there was something wrong with his vocal chords or something like that. So someone else had to sing for him. I don't understand why they didn't just cast Drew Seeley though (that's the guy who sings for Zac in the first movie)

No, high school sports teas HAVE to have a coach or administrator present, there wasn't, the lights may no be required to be on, but they still should be. The music is coming from nowhere, and the coach usually has the game jerseys in the equipment room as teams are not alowed to use them except at game time.
