i was about to say the same thing he actively tried to stop big red too. obviously he's going to think it's fine if she gives advice to him twice out of nowhere without him asking. and either way they did the parallel for that reason to show them both hurt by each other talking about their relationships and it’s not like ricky said anything about it even if he was hurt by hearing her talk about ej. he took it without saying anything.

ricky never had time to unpack it before now though. i get you said your opinions have changed but idk if they did on this so i'll just put my input in but in s1 gina left and he never was able to process his feelings for her. she ghosted him and didn't respond to his texts or anything else and his family life was going to hell as usual. so he clung to nini and with gina gone and not speaking to him no matter how much he tried to contact her, his romantic feelings went to nini the most bc she was there and their history. and by the end of the season even though he had grown enough to express his feelings and say he loved her they also set up his character regression by his fear of change and clinging to comfortability (saying he's back to who he always was when gina popped by at the end of the season). in s2 he was in a relationship with nini and obviously those feelings for gina were still buried and the fact they stopped talking didn't help. now that he's not in that relationship anymore and he's getting close to gina again those feelings he's always had for her come back kicking. like carlos said even though it was "for the doc" he has unresolved feelings for gina and ej basically also confirmed the fact ricky has always liked her ("you've held a torch for her for years"). and those feelings coming back will be even stronger over seeing gina with someone else for the first time. these aren't new feelings no one feels that strongly for someone in 5 days these are feelings that have always been there but not allowed to be looked into by him for many reasons and now it's like a dam broke and it's coming out. but even with that he's not doing anything about it because he knows she's in a relationship and wants her to be happy.

I’m sorry but Gina is totally in the right here. EJ just got the letter yes but he had time to tell Val but not Gina? Gina told EJ first about her mom and for him to go and tell Val and then lie to Gina everytime she asked him if everything was alright. I don’t think people understand this is Gina’s first relationship and she said she doesn’t do well with liars and not only did EJ lie to her but he confided in someone else she was already insecure of. EJ has to do better especially since this isn’t his first relationship he should know better.

watched the rest of the reaction. And yes Val is his longtime friend but it’s really unfair to Gina because she could’ve easily went to Ricky who’s a closer friend to her than EJ is and told him about her mom but she didn’t she went to EJ so for him to go to Val it’s kind of a slap in the face. Also throughout the whole episode EJ hasn’t once tried to tell Gina about the letter even tho I’m ep4 he said he would find her to tell her, he only told her about it when she had to bring it up in front of everyone. Him asking Ricky what’s wrong with Gina is another red flag. Ricky and EJ never striked me as “close friends” just because they never really had that close connection as opposed to like Kourtney and Nini or even Kourtney and Gina. So for him to ask Ricky instead of asking Gina himself he must already know that Ricky and Gina do have close history and that if anything was wrong with her only he would know. I do however agree with not understanding why portwell had to be a thing. I think it’s getting more clear that they’re setting up for Ricky and Gina in season four so I’m just lost on why make EJ and Gina a thing only to break them up before the season ended it kinda parallels Rini with the whole issue being communication and communication being the one thing that Rina seemed to do well. Nevertheless I feel like the breakup with be mutual because they’re at different stages in their life and they will probably realize it was never meant to be. Something will happen between Ricky and Gina to bring both feelings up to the surface and we will have to address that in the next season. I’m also a Rina shipper just on the reason that I enjoy their plot line the most out of any other ship that’s been on this show, and the chemistry is honestly off the charts Tim struck gold with Josh and Sofia’s acting. Anyways these were just my thoughts I hope your opinion changed on the Gina situation at least!

This isn’t EJs first relationship but it’s the first time he’s in a stable one, he was never good at them so in a way it’s just of a new experience as it is for Gina. I think people are hard on the whole Gina thing just because of the couch talk they had and the comment she made about him acting like his old self. I don’t think Gina is completely in the right because yes she has the right to be upset but EJ also has reason to now want to tell her as soon as he got it since he was convinced he wasn’t going to let his dad win, he knows she’s suffered before and didn’t want her to worry about something he thought he could fix. I also think he was going to tell her but then she told him she was staying which probably resulted in him keeping it from her a few more hours. The reason he confided in Val is because they’ve known each other since they were younger as it seems, and with Ricky, they may not be super close but I think EJ still thinks that’s one of his best buddies at the moment considering how much they’ve grown together since the first season. I know Ricky also holds EJ to a close regard even if they’re stuck in a sort of triangle dilema. Gina has a lot of room to grow though, I hope next season she gets to be a lot more free and not confined to a love triangle or relationship so that she can focus on what truly makes her heart happy: dancing. I love Gina, I just hate the way the show is being written this season, the episodes are good but the drama is unnecessary, they’ve created a rift in the fandom and everyone now either ships rina and hates ej or ships portwell and hates Ricky, when all of them deserve love and understanding because they’ve been through so much.

@@girlmeetsmydreams2739 I understand your points I just think that these mistakes EJ is making are the same ones he made in season one. Doing something/finding out something then lying and keeping it from his partner only for them to find out from someone else. It just seems like he puts things on hold way too long and then when it’s revealed it’s on his head for not speaking up about it. I get he wanted to spare Gina’s feelings but tbh it would’ve been way better if she was disappointed then her having insecurities about whether or not EJ is telling her things compared to Val. Because now it feels like she can’t trust him (similar to season one) so at this point I just thought he would’ve learned but who knows I also understand Val and him being close but even Val agreed that she wasn’t supposed to be the one he told first and even if he did tell her first there’s no reason why he couldn’t tell her during rehearsals when he went up to her and asked her if she was mad at him, it just made it look worse for him. I do agree that this triangle has split the fandom but I feel like the fandom has been split ever since season one with Rini, I just think once we get a confirmed endgame everything will start to calm down because we won’t have to worry about other possible ships popping up. EJ and Ricky’s relationship is weird to me, I don’t see them as best buddies but they aren’t fully enemies either. Ricky slapped EJ then a minute later he’s asking Ricky for advice on his girlfriend? Idk it doesn’t add up much but that’s just me! I do think that we will see more of Gina growing in these next three episodes and even on the next season I feel like as opening night draws closer things will start to change. I respectfully disagree about this season being badly written tho I feel like it’s definitely better written than season two and on par with season one, love triangle aside we have this whole jet and maddox plot line and even a Kourtney plot line. Very excited to see how this season wraps up in two weeks!

I just meant the drama between Ricky, Gina and EJ is unnecessary, they’ve all been through enough and I think creating PORTWELLs relationship like this just for it to fall quicker than it became was unnecessary because I know Gina is probably going to be very upset. Otherwise, I think the rest of the show this season is by far the best it has ever been, the plot lines for everyone else are so amazing especially for Jet and Maddox!

I think the way I reacted really overpowered the fact that I actually love both of them so much 💀 I do ship portwell, but there’s nothing I love more than seeing Ricky be the little menace he is, same with Gina. This season is killing it and it’s definitely the best episode so far!

i hope your opinion on how gina reacted the situation is one of the things that you changed your mind on but if not this is how i feel about it to defend gina a bit bc i feel like ppl are being really unfair to her. this is her first relationship and she’s 16 and she HAS been communicating with him. he’s the first person she’s been going to with anything. she’s been asking him if he’s alright and if everything in general is alright. he just says yes and talk to val about it instead. she has been more than obvious she’s upset and he’s either being purposefully oblivious and/or he can’t read her AT ALL. asking RICKY what’s wrong and if his own gf is mad at him (after taking digs at him and their friendship for 2 days straight) instead of continuing to try to communicate and get her to open up yk? everyone got mad at her for doing it in front of everyone and stuff but ej has been doing the same thing? he’s been making nasty digs at gina and ricky for hanging out for 2 days straight? implying they’re sneaking around and then trying to tell ricky he got lost with her purposely? in front of everyone embarrassing them both but especially his gf who doesn’t even know he’s jealous of ricky and has no idea what’s going on. he can be jealous that’s normal but not the way he goes about it. this is a big deal for her. she’s 1.) been abandoned by so many ppl in her life (with them never showing up or showing up but not staying) and she has trust issues because of it 2.) she said she hates liars and he KNEW that but continued to put it off. yes he had a lot to deal with but to me it’s not a good excuse when he knows her feelings and what she’s been through. does her doing the same things he’s doing make it right? no but shifting it all on her and acting like it’s not a reaction to the wrong things HE’S been doing is putting me off. i don’t get why everyone understands him but not her. but this is just my two cents not an attack on you hopefully i didn’t sound too aggressive or anything i just feel like gina has been getting so much shit unfairly

Hi!! I just want to say thank you for sharing your be opinion, I really enjoy reading your thoughts on my reactions and thank you for always interacting! My thoughts on Gina have changed quite a bit! I still think it’s a bit unfair her way of treating Val mostly because it really wasn’t her drama to be in so obviously she wouldn’t want to step in, and I felt it unfair that she would be upset with her too. After taking time to realize that Gina is only 16, I definitely understand her pov. I think it was hard at first because the show has been going on for 3 years that I forgot that they have not aged from the first season 😭 I think the reason he told her it’s okay and went to Val instead is because he didn’t want to give her a reason to worry yet. Like the way Gabriella didn’t tell Troy she got into the honor program at Stanford. Except, EJ isn’t set on leaving so he probably didn’t want to make Gina think he was leaving at all if he was convinced he could convince his dad to let him stay. He obviously didn’t think she would find that letter like that (although he was so dumb for leaving it out like that 😅) It had also been less than 24 hours from when she found that letter, and I feel like her telling him she was staying also became a barrier from him telling her he might be leaving. We’re at a point in the show where Ricky and EJ have become better friends so it’s pretty understandable he’s asking Ricky of all people why Gina is mad at him, like the way Big Red talks to Ricky about his relationship issues. Gina was clearly mad but EJ isn’t that great with relationships either and this is probably the first sane one he’s ever had so it’s new to Gina but the experience with her is new to EJ too. Gina hadn’t mentioned anything about why she was upset until the very end so of course her finding the letter was the last thing EJ could imagine it was. I do think it’s inappropriate how EJ has acted with Ricky although I definitely understand him because Ricky and Gina do have history and even if there still isn’t anything blatantly happening between then, EJ will find it off putting because of how everything went down with Nini and Gina’s past with Ricky. But EJ is being quite dumb because he doesn’t bring it up to Gina he just takes attacks at Ricky infront of everyone, which is also super gross and disrespectful. However, he hasn’t really been nasty towards Gina until just now with the whole letter thing. I just feel like they’re on different pages and it’s truly unfortunate because he’s graduated, she’s not, and their minds are on different things. Gina can focus more on having fun, EJ has to focus more on the direction of his life and being the director, in the end, I just hope that there is a resolution that won’t leave anyone broken. Especially Ricky. Also, I think him having a lot to deal with is a good enough excuse, it may not seem like a lot but we don’t know how EJ deals with his problems alone, I think him not telling her was his way of showing he cares in some weird twisted way because he didn’t want to hurt her without knowing for sure he may be leaving. Onto Gina, I feel bad because I feel like every time she has a good thing, the writing in the show makes it seem like she doesn’t deserve it. Although she’s also had a tricky past, she’s worked just as hard as anyone else to change and even in that couch talk with EJ in season 2, its almost like they both came from the same place and that’s why this whole thinks is upsetting because I do feel like EJ should be able to read her more, but that’s also very telling. Gina has worked so hard on become a better version of herself, distancing herself from situations that made her upset and uncomfortable and I think it’s all coming back to bite now that she has a boyfriend. I know I was unfair with my thoughts on her this season but it was only because I didn’t remember she was 16, I know she’s been through way more than any 16 year old should have, and just like Ricky it makes me so sad that they’ve had to deal with so much being so young. Gina is easily one of my favorite characters, I didn’t like her or EJ in season 1, but now things have changed. I love seeing her confidence, her big heart, and the way with which she goes about herself. I think she still has a lot to learn, but I hope the writing does her justice, I think she should sing “scream” from HsM! I feel like that would be a nice treat for her. She definitely needs time to be alone and just focus on herself and her passions. If I’m being honest, in every reaction I’ve always cut out all the good things I’ve had to say about Gina because I thought people would think it was boring but now I realize I should’ve just kept it in in every video. I understand her and she had all the right to react the way she did, the only thing that I felt was inappropriate was the dig at Val because she didn’t really have anything to do with it, and was even pushing EJ to talk to her. Last thing, I feel also people tend to understand EJ but not Gina, but then I feel like anybody who mainly understands Gina just also doesn’t understand EJ. And then with Ricky, we’ve seen our poor boy suffer so I feel like everybody gets him 😭 I also didn’t mean to attack you or anything, I’ve said before you guys are free to share your opinions as long as you’re respectful of everyone else because we’re all different ages, we’re all different and we have different povs so everyone gonna think differently. Also the story has always planned for these to be the 'circumstances' before Ricky and Gina become a thing. Ricky HAD to get back into her relationship with Nini to realize how toxic they were to eachother and how they held eachother back. Gina NEEDED to get through her first relationship to realize that it's not all a fairy tail and it's hard work and communication and perseverance to make things work. I don't think Ricky and Gina are getting together by the end of the season and frankly I do think it would be quite fast paced if they did but their storylines have always been meant to converge on one another at some point. That point will most likely be in season 4 but y'all just don't appreciate a good slowburn anymore.

I love a good slowburn, the fact that I don’t particularly ship rina doesn’t mean I don’t love a good slowburn. Everybody has different opinions, we all watch the same show but from a different points of views so it’s okay if our thoughts down always align. When I said what I said about the “circumstances” I meant specifically the fact that portwell became a thing at all, I know it theoretically had to happen and that’s fine, I just don’t love the nature of villianizing Gina, Ricky or EJ to get it to work out in the end. I hate to see them hurt.

@@imactuallylily I don't necessarily think the show is villanizing any of them. At the end of the day this is a teen drama show and teens are going to go thru drama and make mistakes. EJ has his faults, Gina has her faults and Ricky has his faults. The huge contrast is that we saw Ricky be able to grow within a relationship last season and understand when he needs to end things and let go of the past. We've never seen these kind of growths come from Gina or EJ and that's why they're struggling very hard right now. And believe me if Ricky wanted to interfere with PW he would have had plenty of chances to actually do so by now. He just wants Gina to be happy even if it isn't necessarily with him.

And it means a lot to me that you took time to interact with me. ❤️ I The whole villainizing thing I say is mostly because now it feels like some people strongly dislike either Gina, Ricky or EJ and like you mentioned I think it’s unfair because they all have their faults and their just teenagers so it’s hard to really judge them when they have so much more space to grow. I know Ricky would never purposely get in between them and I love him for that. I know he has a huge heart and I love that we’ve gotten to see first hand these past few seasons. I also want to mention that anything I said about Ricky, again, was not serious. I love Ricky and I don’t believe the whole thing about him being a “homewrecker” at all, I think that narrative is insane. He’s always faught for what he wants and I’m confident the storyline will give him the freeness, love and confidence he deserves.

That’s just my opinion, I don’t think what EJ said was right either. In the previous video I also said EJ said was weird, I don’t remember if I cut it out or not but I did have a strong reaction to it. The difference in the matters is what made me say it was rude, it was clear EJ didn’t want anyone to know because he doesn’t want to leave and it’s very personal to him to try and convince his dad to stay and when Gina said that, everyone was like in shock and Ashlynn even said she was disappointed in him, there was no need for everyone to know of something that he plans to fix. What EJ said about Gina and Ricky is still wrong but the difference is, he’s not wrong is he? Everyone and their mom in the show, I mean even Jet who’s only known Ricky for 5 days knows what’s going with Ricky and Gina. At this point EJ knows about their history and is pretty defensive, there’s a difference between airing out a potential crush or some sort of attraction in a manner like that then being forced to tell everyone you might have to leave because your dad sucks, wants to map out your whole life and doesn’t approve of what you like to do. I still don’t think what EJ said was right either though. Also, the last remark you made 😭 I don’t what you think I am but I’m just viewer, it’s just show, it’s fiction. We’re all gonna have different perspectives and reactions and that’s fine, that’s exactly what’s supposed to happen. I’m sorry if I said something that we don’t correlate on, but we do correlate on that we love this show and are looking forward to the next episodes and the next season and that’s what matters. ❤️

@@imactuallylily I think it was deserved. 🤷🏽‍♂️ not telling your own girlfriend these things and hoping it fixes itself before you have to offer an explanation is just extremely bad communication and not what a relationship is about. He also wanted to tell her the night before but for some reason continued to play dumb about it throughout the rest of the next day. Miscommunication or.. lack thereof has always been there for EJ and if you want to keep secrets until it blows over it’s on you when it does. By the last comment, I just meant that you guys will put EJ before anything else. 🤷🏽‍♂️

@@TacosWillEatYou1 I think it’s pretty clear now that EJ is not the most mature person in the show and has never been, just because he’s the oldest doesn’t mean he’d be the most mature. In some ways I find Gina more mature and she’s 2 years younger. I don’t think it’s well deserved to have your personal conflict with your dad to become everybody’s business like that. It’s very clear why EJ wouldn’t wanna tell Gina, he wasn’t waiting for the problem to resolve itself, he was waiting for him to be able to solve it, and he had and still has all the intention to. It’s almost identical to the storyline with Troy and Gabriella in HSM 3. It is miscommunication but it’s very clear he was hesitant to tell her because he didn’t wanna hurt her before she needed to be hurt. I still think he should’ve told her though. Again, I never said EJ saying what he said about Gina and Ricky was a good thing either. They both still have a lot to learn and we’ll see how it all ends up. Clearly they need to work on communication but it’s clear they both have good intentions. They both come form a very difficult past of either moving around or being forced to follow in parents steps so it’s not unusual that they don’t know how to act in their first stable relationship.

I definitely agree with everything you said! I think Gina wasn’t being fair, this is her first relationship but going back to that couch talk, once EJ told her why he hadn’t told her she should’ve remembered what she said about her seeing that he always tried his hardest to do his best. EJ has more experience in relationships but he was never good at them either, this is the first time he’s sort of stable so just like Gina it’s pretty clear he wouldn’t know how to manage a situation like this.

Also not sure if you'd be interested in this little tidbit, but the music cue that actually hit when Ricky said 'I guess it's hard not being able to say how you feel' was the exact same cue that played during their very first scene in that car all the way back in 1x05.
