HSP | 94107 Buggy - Spur & Pinion gears metal upgrade

Good info Bro, what's the stock pinion size for this buggy, and do you happen to know the pitch size for the spur and pinion. Im looking for pinion gear for 5mm shaft

Hello mate. For the looks of your worn gears, your gear mess was too tight.This also can worn your motor very fast putting strain on its ball bearings. A good gear mess would be around 0.3mm of gap between messing teeth and the motion should be almost silent. Brush pinion is soft and wear out quickly while plastic spur gear has the ability to work smooth like it is self lubricated thus it doesn't need grease. In fact, most of the greases attack plastic make them soft and turn them to paste. Metal spur is only good for slow speeds as they can handle high torque better and inertia and motor strength is not a problem. Also small difference in gear teeth has big effect in speed of the car. So expect your car to be significantly slower with 3-4 less pinion gear teeth. Too big of a gear and you are asking too much from the motor which is going to overheat. You need to experiment with gears to find the sweet spot of your current motor and ESC system which means keep the speed high and the temperatures low. Have fun with your great car as I do.

@@yairc hello signal bad at moment so u may not get this? The dog bone came out again yesterday. I had tighed tie rod too. I use my XSTR BUGGY about 2 or 3 times a week mostly on road. I don't know where I can get spare parts? When I got it the paper work said 2017 I thought I was getting a newer can. Sorry to bore u we have lockdown again where I am in UK

@@alanscofield8830 hai bro...no worries, we all learning. Your best bet to get spares is from ALIEXPRESS. But the thing with ALIEXPRESS is the delivery time are very2 slow and it is normal. I am from Malaysia and it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. I am not preferred to buy from BANGGOOD as the price are much more higher from ALIEXPRESS. So far i didnt see any youtuber from UK playing with XSTAR. My advice to you, since you playing on the road, do not upgrade your swing arm and chasis to metal as it will be expensive to replace and it easily bend if you hit the curb. Back to your dog bone, i do really see my fellow friend has an same issue when they playing on the road. But rarely has dog bone fell off when playing on the dirty. Could it be tarmac are more harsh surface for your buggy? Should you have any question again, please do msg me here. I hope i can guide you too. Other then tie rod, how bout your axle cup? Does it too lose, or have you compare the lenght of the dog bone with others. Could it be shorter, it can happen they wrongly install different dog bone from different model. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Hello , I have HPS XSTR Only had it few weeks. The right side front drive shaft or ( dog bone) has fallen out twice. Don't know if you can help me please. I've only just started using r/c cars again. Thanks

Put a rubber O ring into the drive cup.

use CVD DRIVESHAFT, its very safe from missing when you hit hard

how did you know that your spur gear & pinion wear down? did your RC not moving at all? mine is slipping, not sure whether it's the spur & pinion gear or the differential.. Thanks for replying!

hai, yeah..my RC move but slipping..so i decide to check and found out the spur gear are grind up by the motor pinion gear...maybe the mesh wasn't set properly by the factory..so i think the spur and pinion mesh was too loose out of the box...

im fixing to ordered the same spur gear you have from amazon prim and put it on my Quanum Vandal 1/10 4WD i have the plastic spur gear like you have and dont want to use it because i will strip it out itfirst run it is a brand new plastic spur gear i don't know what is about me but i can gear mesh metal a hell of a lot better then plastic

Bagi sy, model ni entry level ntuk yg nak berjinak ngan buggy. Ntuk ketahanan sy tak dpt banding dgn professional level buggy seperti sworks, kyosho dan sebagainya sbb sy belum pernah memiliki nya. 1st part sy tukar is the spur gear...ingatkan metal..rupa2 hard plastic. Dan selebih nya sy masih maintain part yg asal. Next upgrade kalau model ni, brushed motor. Nak kena upgrade ke brushless motor. Sbb motor asal ni memang slow. Ada video sy tentang pembandingan jenis battery ntuk stock motor dia. Check it out.
