I am 51 still gaming, loving it at times when I can and yeah its fun. Everyone at my tech company got one cuz they loved how crazy it is and I raved about it. Not sure how DX is now but back in 2010 they had mad reviews about quality and functionality.

It’s work slightly different with APFSDS. The caliber of the round doesn’t make a lot of difference unlike the amount of penetrated armour, length of the rod and it’s remaining structural integrity.

Did Gaijin finally add different damage patterns for APFSDS 76mm and below? Because some time ago everything below around 80mm delivered same damage as 25mm APFSDS which was pretty damn sad, while clearly there should be at least 4 damage brackets f.e. 55-75mm, 45-54mm, 35-44mm, 25-34mm.

I played this thing recently a bit and I did very well in it, I also had the IPM1 with it which makes for a great combo, I'm about average or a bit above average and this thing doesn't disappoint, if you play it correctly you'll get the best results. A lot of people think they can just rush like headless chickens because of the fast reload and get away but they forget that this thing has no armor. Be tactical with the HSTV-L, don't take risks.

@3:30. "Gaijin has sliders to adjust the performance" It really does. I even think some of it might be algorthmically adjusted by the system based on the player at run time. You can sense the differences from day to day. Maybe even moment to moment depending on..... I donno,, "user engagement"? The game server does a lot of shenanigans behind the scenes to make "crew skills" have effects. "Why does my plane suddenly handle like crap." "Why can't I hit shit even if I'm aiming right where a lead indicator would say to aim?" "Ghost shells?" Look at the player cards and you will almost always find that that they are a higher level.

Everytime Phly takes out a vehicle to test and play, enemy tanks or players in general turns deaf and one eyed blind, when I play the enemy would have enhanced boosted hearing and locked on laser eyes, skill issue is the key here, I guess. Even when I am attempting to be sneaky during flanking moves the enemy would just ambushes me out of nowhere and one shot kills me, happens to me 8 out 10 times. If not this they would just accurately one shot sniped me from 1.5km+ away. I got more chance in winning in arcade games, but that's just arcade, realistic is what I want to excel at.

You got pretty lucky by practically having every ammo rack/fuel/barrel hit go off. Almost also always survive a hit, and it doesnt ammo rack you which is also amazing. That never happens for me or my squad mates. My problem with it is that I can never sneak up on someone, they always hear that engine. The rounds do about as much damage as the 2S38, but that holds more and shoots faster. Sure, HSTVL has more flat pen, but that's all. 2S38 has more ammo that takes less space, quicker fire rate, HE-VT, IRST lock and tracking, quite engine, and an crewless turret which are all major advantages. It's cons are larger size (most empty so not really important), and less depression. In my playing, it's essentially a more survivable HSTVL with an Automattic built in. And it's 1 whole fucking br lower.

I think 10.3 was the sweet spot, unless they give it 1 second reload and proper penetrating value at think 320 then 10.7 is justified. Like why the 2s38 with like 220 pen and .5 second reload and gen 3 thermals, and hold more ammo is at 9.7.

god i love the HSTV-L, i only tend to go for ammo racks if it's from the side and they're moving fast, if i can in any way stop it, i'll typically shoot out the engine first, then the barrel when they're stationary. Works wonders usually.

My only problem with the HSTVL is the incredibly shit post-pen damage it has if you don't directly hit ammo. However, that is not limited to just the HSTVL, but the Chinese M41 with the 76mm APFSDS & the fast Italian boi whose name I can't recall with the 60mm. A BMP's 30mm has more post-pen damage than these 3 vehicles which is incredibly stupid. And I'm fine with the HSTVL having low post-pen damage if Gaijin would simply come out and say, "Yes, we lowered its post-pen damage for balance". Because the HSTVL is incredibly powerful. Those other two vehicles though really should have better post-pen damage for their darts.

Haha reminds me of Russian Mains who complain of needing the R73 because they say the Aim-54 is Stealth. News flash it ain't, just learn the fucking BVR defending maneuvers. Not like you could use the Aim-54 as a justified reason for why the R73 is needed currently. It's literally one of the most unorthodox reasons you could give and here's why. They are two different missile types completely one is a Fox-3 Active Radar and the other is a Fox-2 IR tracking. They both accomplish two different type of goals. The Aim-54 hopes to achieve long range stand off air dominance while the R73 hopes to achieve close up WVR air dominance. If you want to counter a Fox-3 you ask for a Fox-3, if you want to counter a Fox-2 you ask for a Fox-2. Take for example what we've just had happen with Fox-1 missiles from this last major update. The American Fox-1 Aim-7F & M Sparrows have been now better countered with the addition of the R27ER. A balance between both sides Americans get slightly slower missiles but more of them while the Russians get faster missiles but less of them. If one really wants to counter the Aim-54 you bring in another Fox-3 say the Aim-120A. The same logic would apply if you say added the R73 despite not having reason to do so. I mean you wish to add the R73 which is a 50G missile with a platform that has a 30 degree HMS is just gonna kill the close up dogfight meta in the community if not countered properly. We would also have to see the addition of the Aim-9M which is a 45G pulling missile to even compare to that of what people are advocating be added to the game right now. For those who think that the Aim-9M would be to OP because it would be very flare resistant more so then the R73 then I would have to tell you to learn how to flare and cut your engines throttle its not a hard concept. Even missiles with high flare resistance can be flares you just have to try. If people wish to bring up the Aim-9L as a reasoning which would be more understandable for why people would want the R73 the same logic would apply. In the case of the Aim-9L the one can still flare it out if one does the proper actions to evade it which is flare while cutting down engine throttle. In any case one shouldn't complain about the Aim-9L as it to already has a counter in the game which is the R60MK. This missile will pretty much preform up to that of the Aim-9L however at shorter range for a shorter period of time. I'm sure you can see how these two topics relate and if it's not clear to you then I'll just state it now. People need to stop complaining and asking for things that are absolutely not needed just because you can't perform or figure out how to overcome these problems like everyone else who does well in them. Been hearing people say Skill Issue and you're absolutely correct.
