The HSTV-L (High Survivability Test Vehicle Lightweight) was a test bed created by the US in the late 70s to early 80s. Using a gas turbine engine, hydropneumatic suspension, and fast-firing hypervelocity cannon, the HSTV-L was designed to explore the concept of an incredibly mobile and lethal tank. The HSTV-L was preceded by the HIMAG (High Mobility and Agility) test vehicle, and superseded by the RDF/LT (Rapid Deployment Force Light Tank).
