When we got our hands-on the HTC Rezound earlier this month, we came away thoroughly impressed. It's packed with a quick 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, Verizon's 4G LTE and an absolutely stunning 4.3-inch 720p display that gives the Retina variety on the iPhone a run for its money. Two weeks on, and we're happy to report that our opinion of the Rezound hasn't changed in the least. In fact, the device is still surprising us with its quality.
While the HTC Rezound isn't the thinnest phone around (13.7mm), it's still a very attractive device. Just as we said during our hands-on, the black and red combo gives the phone a sleek and premium look, and the build materials are top quality. You won't get any of that cheap plastic feel here.
With phones like the Droid Razr, Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S II no doubt taking the majority of the spot light this holiday season, the Rezound may unfortunately be a device that goes unnoticed by the masses. For audiophiles, the Rezound is definitely a device to take notice of. Consumers will have some big decisions to make with so many high quality Android phones hitting the market. The HTC Rezound is currently available on Verizon Wireless for $299.99 with two-year contract.

glad its down to $200. this is definitely my favorite besides the razr maxx and nexus, but they're $300 :( So if my contract fully expires in February, could i upgrade after just 18 months of a contract still? (that would be august) I really don't want to wait for this. I was originally going to wait til september to see what new phones were out but i think this may be my pick since its got a dual core 1.5ghz processor.

This phone is insane. The best ive ever had. Lexington, KY just got 4G LTE last week and I got to try it and the fastest speed I got was 34 Mb down and 12 Mg up.

Why do people compare iPhones to android phones? IPhone is just now hitting dual core phone and is clocked in at 800mhz barely. This phone is easily faster on 3G alone because of the 1.5Ghz processor. And the fact that iPhones haven't gotten 4G (Verizon 4G not other shitty networks) is ridiculous for 4G technology that's been out since winter of 2010. Any 4G phone - iPhone. And yes I've used both For months on end.

To all you guys saying that the samsung s2 display is better. No it ain't I have the epic touch and my brother just got this phone the rezound screen is way crisper and the colors look real on my ep touch the colors look like they have a blue tint and when it comes to crispness its not even close the text on the rezound blows my phone away. HTC rezound definitely the best display on the market.

generally true statement that motoblur is shit. it deserves some respect, but not much, there is that 1/5 group that prefers it, and then the 4/5 or so that puts a rom over it or does some form of edit to it to the processor, is 2 > 1? i fucking thought so, some people are picky about the smallest bit of delay the cameras do not have the same lenses, therefore they are not equal. 1 is not equal to 1.1? again nope Anyways,

Do yourself a favor, wait for the Galaxy Nexus. Beats audio is nothing but a gimmick & let's not forget that's only a 720p LCD display. LCD displays even if it is the slcd one do not even come close to the quality of images that samoled displays give (I have had a Samsung fascinate and HTC thunderbolt and i absolutely miss the fascinate's display). ICS will probably come to this phone eventually admittedly but don't forget aosp is much better than sense in every day use and performance.

@Jon4lakers What makes this one any more an update or replacement for the t-bolt than anything else? I fell in for the t-bolt thinking it would be a nice phone that I could keep for the life of my 2 year tie down without it getting out dated, I thought with it having LTE I'd be set. Come to find a sea of Verizon 4 g phones with stronger, faster dual core processors, much more ram. This phone is only 49$ now! Tempted to get this, or wait for the Dinc4G. I handled the phone and It was a bit too thick for me, and the battery life is a downer. So if you want a slimmer design, and better battery life and connections, wait for the Dinc4G. The Dinc4G will also have a S4 processor for ridiculous speeds.

@CarlaLuvsSnow I did do the research and asked some of my friends who had the Bionic and they all said it was terrible. I just upgraded to the HTC ReZound and it should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday. I got the phone, an extended battery, matching OEM case with holster and screen protectors for $150. I couldn't pass up on that deal.

I have owned this phone for a month. This is one of the few honest reviews of the HTC Rezound that I have seen. Most reviewers are pretty dismissive of this phone. However, a fair comparison of this phone against the Droid Razr and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will put this phone right at the top with the others. Very good and unbiased review.

about the beats integration, is just the ear-sets or does it actually have a special sound chip built-in? do you have any idea what type of dac/op-amp chip the Rezound use? i'm still looking for a descent portable audiophile android to go with the headphones of my own choosing.. oh and considering the screen.. how does it compare with the Galaxy Note?

@whyfcwesthamuntied well I ordered mine at costco and I paid 169 from a package of the phone the beat earbud a screen protector and a car charger the regular charger and so one and if you go to Verizon it's 199 for the phone and the charger plus the beats headphones

Can't wait until this hits our shores. It's annoying though, Telstra will take it but they'll take about three months testing it to see if it's capable for their huge network and weird frequencies. HTC will probably make a new Rezound by the time Australia gets this one. FML

i live in the uk and im getting the equivalent to the rezound the sensation xe, its about as good as this except its screen res isnt as good and its got 768 mb of ram except for 1gb of ram like the rezound so as its the best android phone in the uk im gonna get that

@pascalhamham Don't know. HTC might make a global band version because I can see Telstra (Australia's largest telco) taking this phone and Telstra use some different frequencies than other Australian carriers. I hope Telstra does carry this phone...

@TheMegaZunac I'm a "Fanboy", but I love Android. Don't get me wrong, iOS is far superior to Android, but I love Android because it's a great attempt to catch up. Also, I watch TechnoBuffalo SOLELY for the reviews, no matter what they're for.

Same as Sensation. Not an insult, but a fact. I have a rooted Sensation w/Beats Audio clocked at 1.5, so the only real difference is the extra bit of RAM and the 2MP front camera. Aesthetically its almost identical.

Seriously, man it says mobile network is off at 08:00 and one can clearly see the wifi sign in the notification bar... So no LTE. That's WiFi!!! How could an expert mix those things up!?

So its not just me..I have an evo 4g and I did love the HTC touch input..but I ended up switching to smart keyboard and no I'm using the ics keyboard..I'm not a fan of the HTC keyboard anymore.

Lol he was connected to wifi when he did the speed test which isn't fair. I am in Chicago and my LTE speed tests are anywhere between 20 and 30 down. I had one peak at 42 once.

Verizon NEEDS LTE to achieve those kinda speeds, as slow are their 3G network is. Meanwhile, my T-Mobile Galaxy S2 regularly and consistently pulls down ~12mbps on HSPA+
