The joint efforts of Israel's allies did not "defeat" the Iranian attack. They destroyed the drones and the cruise missiles that were designed to engage the Israeli defences (Which they did.) but faied to stop the 9 Iranian ballistic missiles which hit the targets they were aimed at. None of the Iranian ballistic missiles were intercepted. This looks, to me at least, more like a "successful attack" than a "defeat".
