Great job! Too bad it seems you have stopped making these types of videos. Bundle all of your videos, refine them and sell it as a course. One thing I liked about your video was the details. You address each and every point within the form tag, and display their benefits.

Hello, Kevin Carter! Thank you for watching the TechnicalCafe tutorial videos and my apologies that you weren't able to find information about how to space out text boxes in the tutorials! One way that you could attempt to space the text boxes would be to create a table that has three columns and one or two rows, depending on what you'd like to display. From there, you could use the "cellpadding" or "cellspacing" attributes in HTML to space things out. You could also use CSS to style them!

Is POST mostly preferred over GET which is written inside method? Is it something like GET should never be used? As using GET leads to display of the username and password in the url....
@TechnicalCafe
@TechnicalCafe 8 жыл бұрын
This depends on what the webpage is being used for. Like you mentioned, you should not use a GET request when sending sensitive data, like username and passwords - a POST request would be preferred (and if you could include some encryption via SSL, etc., that would be even better!). However, for sending search queries and what not, GET requests are perfectly ok! If you have any specific questions regarding this, please don't hesitate to ask!

ALL THE VIDEOS ARE GREAT!! THEY HELPED ME A LOT IN MY EXAMS.. I M A BEGINNER. I JUST WANTED TO KNOW, WHEN WE GO TO GOOGLE HOME PAGE AND VIEW PAGE SOURCE, A VERY LONG CODE APPEARS.. DO PEOPLE ACTUALLY TYPE IT??
@TechnicalCafe
@TechnicalCafe 7 жыл бұрын
It's likely that someone at Google wrote the code that you see when you choose to view the source of Google's homepage. In addition to HTML code, it looks like there's quite a bit of JavaScript code on Google.com, which may be used for a variety of purposes (adding functionality, interactivity, user/account tracking, etc.). It's possible that I'm wrong or that the code does other things too, but it's hard to tell without really analyzing the code/knowing what the functions do. In many cases, you won't need all of that code on a website's homepage, though!

Hey, JRCapital69! Thank you for commenting and watching; I appreciate it! As for naming the fields in an HTML drop-down or selection menu, you can simply put the name or value that you want displayed to the user between the two opening and closing "option" tags. You can assign them a value, which can be used by PHP and other languages to process the data, by using the "value" attribute in HTML, and assigning a value of your choice. (Though, you may want to use the same value in both places!)

You can make text input show up on the same page by "sending" the data to the page that the form is on using PHP (and maybe even some JavaScript, like the jQuery library or AJAX)! In the form's attributes, you can omit the "action" attribute or set it to be the URL or location of the page that you're using (in this case, the one that has the form on it that you'd like the input to appear on), similar to how we used "process.php" as the "action". Best of luck!

@TechnicalCafe

Usually tags will have an opening and closing tag that follow this template: . In the case of some single tags, you can place a /> at the end of the tag, but it isn't required. (I believe I've done this in some tutorials, possibly with the or tags.)

Great tutorial!!!!!!!. I am newbie when it comes to HTML codes. But need to learn it because I am creating OPT-IN form for a landing page. Question: Do you have any tutorials on adding styles to the codes (e.g., adding color to the button; adjusting the length of the input box; and adjusting size of fonts). Your assistance on this would highly appreciative. Again, excellent tutorial

The "process.php" page that you see in this and other tutorials related to forms on the TechnicalCafe channel is supposed to be where the information from the form gets sent once the user clicks on the "Submit" button. This can be done using either GET or POST variables, which come into play when processing data using PHP that comes from an HTML form. A "process.php" page may do things to the data that it takes from the HTML form, such as insert it into a database, manipulate it, etc.

Did you create a "process.php" page for your webpage? The reason this form is not submitting is because there is no page to take the data. In this tutorial, the "process.php" page was intended as a placeholder, to show you what you would use if you actually wrote a PHP script to use or handle the data that was entered in the HTML form that we created. For more information about using PHP to process the data, please feel free to send me a KZbin message or an e-mail! Thank you for watching!

Hey, Luther442! Thank you for watching the TechnicalCafe tutorials! As for your question regarding how to impose a limit on the amount of text a user can enter in a textbox, you can do this by using the "maxlength" attribute of the "input" tag in HTML. So, if you wanted to have a max length of 10 characters, you could do something like: maxlength="10" The Tizag website is where I got this information from and also has a bunch of great HTML (and other) tutorials that you may want to check out!

@TechnicalCafe

Max Schultz Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate it! As for a process.php page, you would have to have downloaded a server that can run PHP, as well as PHP itself. Something like Apache's XAMPP package would work for this. As for the actual code, I would recommend that you check out the tutorials offered by PHPAcademy.org, as I don't currently have any recorded. Best of luck and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via the TechnicalCafe website! I'd be more than happy to try and help out where I can!

In this tutorial, I used NotePad++ as my text editor and Mozilla Firefox for a browser. I would highly recommend NotePad++ as a text editor as it is simple to setup and use and has support for variety of languages, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and many others. I use Screencast-O-Matic to record the videos and would recommend it, as it's easy to use and isn't expensive. They have both a free and paid version, with the paid version being only $15 per year, with it including extra features. Thank you for watching and if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Hi Jamie, Love the HTML tutorials. I am taking a JavaScript class right now and I am creating a form in HTML. I was wondering if you could tell me if there is a way to space the text boxes from left to right. I have watched just about all of you HTML videos and I have not found anything on that yet. @TechnicalCafe

I think the best way to do this would be to use a database (like a MySQL database) to store the episodes that you’ve watched. However, doing so would require more than just HTML - you would have to use a server-side scripting language like PHP or Python, as well as some SQL in order to store, access, and modify the data.

If you'd like to link your "Submit" button with an email address so that you can send emails from your website, you'd also need to use some server-side code for this, such as a PHP script. However, this shouldn't be too complicated of a task to accomplish. I'd recommend that you check out CodeCourse on KZbin, as they have videos on this sort of thing, as well as many other topics.

Once you send the data to a PHP script, using GET or POST variables, you would parse or use the data, perhaps inserting it into a script, etc., and you could also "echo", or print, the data back out to the webpage using PHP. I know this topic might be a bit confusing, but if you send me a KZbin message or e-mail, I'd be more than happy to try and explain it a bit more in depth. I'd also eventually like to make a video on this so that I can explain it while doing it, which I think would help!
@TechnicalCafe
@TechnicalCafe 11 жыл бұрын
You could send the contents of an HTML form to an e-mail address by using a server-side scritping language, like PHP. (There is a "mail()" function that you can use to do this, though I think there may be other ways, as well.) I would recommend that you do a Google search for "how to send emalis using PHP" or another similar search query, in order to find out more information about how to do this. There are also videos on KZbin that explain this, such as those offered by PHPAcademy! - Jamie

Why make a form and not just put the elements? It is more organized like that?
@TechnicalCafe
@TechnicalCafe 10 жыл бұрын
The reason for putting the form elements within the "form" tags is because of the way the form is submitted. When a user clicks on the "Submit" button, the data from within the form gets submitted to another webpage for processing, and if the elements weren't included within the same form as the "Submit" button, the form data may not end up being submitted and processed.

Hello! The reason that the page doesn't change or you get sent to an "error" page when you click on the "Submit" button is because we actually haven't set up a "process.php" page for the content within the text box to be sent to. There are various tutorials on how to create a page to "intercept" the form data so you can use it available on KZbin and the internet! Even though we have set up the method (POST) and the action (process.php), we still haven't created the process.php page, so when

Both times that I submitted my form without actually having the .php file exist crashed my whole browser. Maybe its cause I'm testing this on my actual webhost file uploader? ;P
@TechnicalCafe
@TechnicalCafe 6 жыл бұрын
Sorry that your browser crashed! Without an actual PHP file to process the form data, you're likely to be taken to an error page when submitting the form. We do have some PHP videos up on the channel now, including one on how to use GET and POST requests, which is related to processing forms.

hey bro!! how to add show password option
@TechnicalCafe
@TechnicalCafe 9 жыл бұрын
If you'd like to add a "Show Password" option, which a user can enable using a checkbox, for example, this would require the use of JavaScript, particularly using the jQuery JavaScript library. We don't currently have any tutorials on how to do this, but a quick Google search should help you find the tutorials you're looking for! Please feel free to send me an e-mail or message if you're interested in how to do this, and I'd be glad to try and send you some code that you could use to add this functionality to your website. Thank you for watching; I appreciate it!

Raven Laing Because Blogger doesn't allow you to upload PHP files to your blogs/websites, you will probably be unable to get much functionality out of an HTML form like this. However, Blogger may have some built-in forms that you can use or add to your website, if you check out the "Widgets" section, etc. Thanks for watching and commenting; I appreciate it!

how to make process.php ?
@TechnicalCafe
@TechnicalCafe 9 жыл бұрын
emdad khan A "process.php" page would require writing some PHP code in a file, that would take the information from the HTML form and use it in some way, such as using it to send an e-mail, inserting it into a database, etc. While we currently do not have tutorials on this topic right now, I would recommend that you check out the PHPAcademy KZbin channel, where there are excellent tutorials on how to do this more.

+Mooli Morano Any time! Regarding the element, I don't think I ever included it in any tutorials. Instead, I think I just used regular text without any special elements to style it. Maybe I should include information about the and other elements in the future, though!
