Do you know if we use auto discovery if that has any impact on this?

May be this is not much clear. Be more specific. Basic endpoint (mule app) and proxy (mule + non mule apps). If you use Auto discovery it will be used to establish connection between api manager (policy level) with deployed implementation instance without need to have a proxy app running in addition to main implementation.
