HTTYD - Astrid - Warrior

Okay but like. Astrid is the PERFECT role model for girls. She's such a strong female character, but she's not a perfect person. She has flaws just like real people. She is supportive of Hiccup without them emasculating him. She is probably one of the best and healthiest role models for young and even older girls. They portray her in such a beautiful way. But they realized she didn't need to be perfect to be loved. She has flaws, and thus they had a wonderful ability to show her character growth throughout the series. We see her go from this overly guarded and hard-headed individual that's overly competitive, to someone even-minded, mature and supportive. And again, in the times Hiccup needed her, we saw her support him without him being emasculated just to put up a show of her strength. She is truly such a well done character. A well done female character. She is one of the few shows of strong female leaders that was done to, I'm just gonna say it, absolute perfection. In this day we have to see 'strong female characters' with no flaws, they emasculate their men, and they are portrayed as perfect so there's no room for growth. Astrid is an amazing character and I wish we could see more like her. She is truly a gem!
