What is that he’s doing with his hands? I’ve never seen it before.

He's showing the scale number of the note he's singing. If you're in the key of C, then C is 1, D is 2, etc going up the scale. Similar to solfege, it's a way to visually represent the music without using a score.

@@BarbershopHarmony Yes, it's just interesting to me how he scrunches up his fingers when it's flat and always does something different with 6 and 7's. I only see it in these videos. Thanks for the reply, though.
