Their subgenre is called harajukucore, so it isn't actually kawaii metal. Kawaii metal was conceived as a blend of j-pop idol culture and metal. Harajukucore blends metalcore with the culture and fashion of the Harajuku district, which is a famed center of youth culture in Tokyo. The Harajuku culture is sort of an anti-idol, or perhaps alt-idol thing, with a lot of emphasis on freeform expression, an alternative to the more strict and regimented discipline of the idol culture.

Hanabie (pronounced HAHN-a-bi-ǝ) This is what you get when Babymetal and Maximum the Hormone have a love child. They actually started in high school, playing MTH covers. Clearly one of THE new metal bands to watch. Most of their songs are quite pointed, concerning social issues like dating app abuse, sexual harassment, drugs, human trafficking, cheating etc. “We Love Sweets” is about having an unhealthy relationship to sugar. At first I thought the old man would have a field trip with this song. given he was so calm and prepared for a japanese metal band. but then the song played and the geezer died on the inside and the little girl was jumping and having fun. I still thought: "Go old man! Get out your knowledge of music and stump us all with your nuggets of wisdom!" But the geezer still had his dead gaze and the little girl continued to jump. I tried to focus on the matter at hand, but the little girl continued to look at the camera. And alas, the old geezer contained his dead stare while the little girl rocked out to the tunes

think about it. theyre kinda the same formula as system of a down. instead of counterculture armenians with some middle eastern type sound in their metal numetal and other genres theyre just japanese counterculture girls with japanese aspects of their sound and thy pretty much make metalcore and numetal so it matches up they just dont have any ballads like soad

This song isn't really about celebrating sweets, it's more about sugar addiction. This could also be extended to other addictive substances as well. They tend to touch on addiction a lot. My favorite song with a video from them is "REIWA Dating Apps Generation" and it's about the addiction of hookup culture. The lack of human connection, the lack of interest beyond just a one night stand. They're brilliant and Yukina is easily one of the most talented vocalists on the planet. She can switch from growls, to cleans, to kawaii to rap without a hitch
