💝💝💝💐💐💐 By the way did you know that Tawain too had also contributed heaps in the 1940 till 1970 something ??.. regardless what had happened in the world .. they kept the school going and kept the Chinese culture alive. 我的一位初中數學老師就在60年代被派往寮國一年,幫助當地的華僑學校。回來跟我們說 當地人都穿沙龍。

就因如此寮国/老挝都会写会读简休及繁體中文. Both are very much loved in our chest.
You are right. In those days, most of the Chinese teachers, say in my school, Lieutou came from Taiwan (RoC), as then Laos was a neutral country, I must say very rightist and anti Communist, so the Chung Hua Association could only source teachers from Taiwan (RoC). They all came with a political agenda. They taught us Guoyu (Mandarin, or Han Chinese), and we had to sing the national anthem of RoC and vowed our allegiance to overtake Mainland China each day in the sportground, as we did not have a big hall to speak. Most candid to me, they taught us to sing some of the Taiwanese songs, like Alisan, and taught us to dance the folk dance of the hill tribes in Taiwan (RoC). Gosh, that was difficult for me, as a boy to sing, to shake and swing like a tribesman (but, looking back it is indeed a fond memory). I did hold an RoC passport, for convenience, but that passport forbid me to enter Taiwan (RoC), for fears of communist infiltration. Upto this day, in my retirement and now liviing in Singapore, I have not visit Taiwan (RoC), the land of my Chinese teachers. Hope one day, I may retinker my long lost love for Taiwan (RoC), as at one stage I was very immersed into the political agenda of KMT. But, not so when I left Laos in teenage, for Hong Kong where my political views took a complete different direction. Anyway today I would call myself a liberal. And for all accounts, I love Laos, though it is a far distant land in my memory, but well, still the resting place in peace, for my father and my grandmother. I have turned my last page on the chapter of Laos, so I would not go and visit it.
Central Airline

@@leesouiida6815 Wow, respects. Just to add. The richest Chinese in France, or even Europe Mr. Chan is from Laos, I went to his home when I was young, and also the richest Chinese in Australia, Mr Frank Chou is also from Laos, he went to see me in a hotel in Australia. A chronological order of the richest Chinese in Laos, it started with the Guo family (they owned the Banque Laovieng, a few ice factories and also gambling monopoly, even the Prime Minister Phouma had to address him as uncle, as he married a royal family), next came a Mr. Cheng who grew tobacco and got a British tobacco brand 555 distribution in Laos and as far as Hong Kong), then last came another Mr. Cheng who controlled rice milling in Laos. Yes, there was another small bank called Vientiane Commercial Bank owned by a Chinese, I cannot recall his name, and so did an airline, The Lao Commercial Airline which was a competitor of the Royal Lao Airline, the former owned by a Chinese too. But, well they were a second tier, sorry to say this, no undue respects at all.
I attended the Lieudou Chinese School, in Vientiane, Laos. The first richest Chinese family started with the Guo family who owned a bank, Banque Laovieng and a few ice factories etc. The richest Chinese in Europe was in fact from Laos, a Mr. Chan or Tan. So is the richest Chinese in Australia, a Mr. Chow. They are all Chaochou.
Hi Chloe, my name is Andy Chin. I was in Viantiane, Laos. Just like the story you told. Could you please tell me what do I need to know if I plan to come visit or work in Laos? Thank you.
