Hello! Can the Huawei SUN2000-15KTL-M2 15kw three-phase inverter also be used as offgrid without batteries? I don't want to become a prosumer at the moment. But I want to use the solar panels for domestic consumption as long as it is sunny and at night to take from the public network. Does it work this way? I don't want to use batteries. To be able to use it off-grid and without batteries, do I need any other module/equipment? Thank you in advance.

The Huawei hybrid I have here at the Lab doesn't provide backup, only supports your loads to avoid excessive import of energy from the grid. There is now limit placed on your loads by the inverter.

Hi Amr, the Huawei 5kW hybrid is really only an on-grid inverter for self-consumption of solar energy. No backup if the grid fails though I believe Huawei are working on a new version with an EPS (backup) output. Watch this space.

Hello. The inverter has 98% efficiency. The battery has a dc-dc converter unit. What is the efficiency of the battery? Surely its not 100% if its got a dc-dc converter init. Also the battery voltage must be 155V based on capacity and ah spec?

The 400v pack has 155V battery voltage so more series cells but the additional converter must not be 100% efficient to also give a 95% overall efficiency.. Do you have any thoughts about this?

This can work, but why not just buy an off grid inverter, it would be cheaper. A hybrid inverter works both in off grid mode and on grid mode, as well as hybrid mode(mix of both)

I have Huawei SUN2000L 5KTL getting a little confused. why can't we use other battery besides LG Chem 400v? why can't I use the LG Chem 48v? any help here will be appreciated.

Fernando C the inverter’s battery port can only accept the 400V battery as it feeds into the same dc bus as the PV array at similar voltage. Whereas hybrid inverters designed for ELV (DVC-A) batteries require large and heavy transformers to step up the voltage from say 48V to around 400V while maintaining galvanic isolation of the DVC-A battery for safety reasons.

@@SmartEnergyLab and those "large and heavy" trafis are exactly good things: they provide overloading capabilities and hey, what is wrong that they are heavy? I'm not going to keep them on my back, right? Galvanic isolation is good thing as well. The problem is manofacturers are trying to fool us transformerless solutions are better because it is way cheaper for them not to use heavy copper trafos. Soconce again: toroid trafo based inverter are superior over transformerless ones. Simple as that.

What has to do the safe DC with the optimization? How many mppts has the inverter? You miss essential technical details. The 300V battery option is useless, almost any string inverter of this power can be configured to run on such battery. It would be an advantage if it could run on 48v battery, the 300v battery makes the function irrelevant because eliminates the cost advantage of the inverter

So to sum up: these inverters are useless for 100% of us, off-griders. The next really odd thing is that you have to use only one type of battery. No way to use second life e-car battery or 18650 cells based banks. This videos is actually yet another salesman promo video, not 100% honest. This is my opinion.
