It’s not comparable. If Hiawei’s ban in the US was the same as Google’s ban in China, Huawei would not care too much, just like Google doesn’t care too much that it’s banned in China. The problem is that the US ban makes it almost impossible for Huawei to do business now, not just in the US, but globally. ‘ These two bans really have nothing to be compared.

I saw in an interview with Bill Gates that Microsoft was very much aware in the 80's and 90's that Windows was heavily pirated in China but chose not to take action. The reason was very interesting. He felt that at that time, Chinese could not afford the cost of Windows and if they enforced their copyright then China would be forced to develop a low cost OS that would directly compete with Windows and that could erode Microsoft's dominance and profits overall. It sounds like the restrictions on China might realize his original concern. The cost of Software is labor and if the US SW profits drop then it is going to force those companies to reduce their labor costs. That would not be good for the US economy.

My take? The US merely hasten the invietable by making this move against Huawei. China indeed has plans to develop high tech sectors independent of the US and offer it as an alternative to the US, this merely strengthens their resolve to achieve their goals. China, after this incident no longer sees the US as a reliable supplier and will work as much as they can to be independent of it. Expect Chinese Chips, Chinese software...etc in the coming decades.

@@tat3179 China is not any less of a bully too. In spite of India considering China an ally, they backstabbed on us and occupied the North Eastern part of the country. Doesn't matter how their communist government justifies the apparent illegal takeover as necessary, they still attacked a relatively weaker nation at that time, and backstabbed a close ally. A few kilometers of uninhabitable land dispute is not at all a reason to attack another country. Sure, the US did commit a lot of war crimes, and most of them are definitely unforgivable. But so did China and therefore, I don't see how the world would be any better, if not worse, under the Chinese leadership.

And no, India and China were never "close allies". Fact is, they won, India lost. And of course, the loser will whine about being "bullied". That is natural. That is why the US government is bypassing the courts and abusing "national security" to do things without any proof. EDIT: broken laws that warrants a ban. Hi, First I would like to say that your videos / documentaries are great but for this one, I have a lot of comments as an engineer and X Huawei employee. First, Huawei is not the world largest smartphone manufacturer, it just overtook Samsung in sales for one quarter (Q2) due to Covid-19 pandemic. I think not only the US should fight china, but the EU, UK and Australia should do the same. China and their companies encourage intellectual properties theft and there are even prizes for this. A lot of companies had gone bankrupt because of this. The spying was not just claimed but also proved. I don't think a lot of countries care because most are doing the same, it's about USA staying the economy superpower. Before resigning from Huawei, I sent email about illegal activities, even to Ren personal assistant, but no one cares if it doesn't endanger their business. When Mr. Ren visited our office they sent most of the employees outside office, so he doesn't hear the stuff they don't want him to hear. PRISM is nothing compared to the spying in China and the great firewall in China and the censorship is unimaginable. Russia is not keen on working with China but the US left Russia no choice. Also, I want to mention that the most expensive thing in a product it's R&D cost and if you steal from others, you can sell cheaper. Firing an employee who is accused of intellectual property theft is nothing if Huawei is still using that technology, which a lot of Chinese companies survive because if theft which is normal in their culture and that should stop. My ideas are scattered because I just wrote what came to my mind and what I could remember, another thing that you can't do in China. I don't agree with everything the US is doing and the communication should be better with their allies.

As a company that *NEVER* *invented* anything and was caught 342 times disassembling highly valuable prototypes of western products. After every incident they just make a confuse face and say: "Sooooo, not for me?" and after 5 min send the same guy to another western company R&D department.

@@gurung1812 yea people will put their lives down for the CIA not for the CCP who harvest its own innocent citizens organs, also putting their own citizen in a modern day NAZI concertation camps, and is cracking down Hong Kong, wants to invade Taiwan, fight india in the mountains and also claiming the south china sea as it own property that all countries would have to follow chinese laws when passing through. I bet people like you would have gone mad if the CIA claims the whole Atlantic sea but yet all those poor south American countries still have access.

Hey, for in the future, could you give more information when refering to an American think thank. This because there are many, many, many think thanks that are funded by multinationals or that are loyal to a party and will only produce opinions that comply with the existing powers.

The main think-tank that produces reports about the Uyghurs in China is the Australian Strategic Policy Institute aka ASPI is actually funded by US weapons manufacturers like Raytheon, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and of course the US government itself. They play up the China threat everywhere so that they buy weapons and these US weapons manufacturers make more money and gives more funding to these think-tanks who further play up the China threat to get governments to buy more weapons and so on and so forth, completing the cycle.
