These are always my favorite style videos you do. Absolutely love these. The mic is okay, camera is dope, but THAT BATTERY LIFE IS AMAZING! Also that was probably the most relaxed I have seen Marques in a studio visit. Loved seeing that. In his other studio visits he is sort of "on" if that makes sense, which isn't a bad thing in anyway, but getting a sneak peek for what it's really like to be around you guys normally is nice for people to see. Ive had this phone for about 3 weeks now, and its absolutely the best phone ive ever had. Recommend 10/10. Only downside im noticing is bothering me is the missing headphone jack, but im looking into wireless buds(jaybirdx3). The batterylife is insane, it charges SO fast as you can see. If you dont use it, it doesnt lose power at all. The camera is BRILLIANT. The phone hasnt lagged or crashed once. This is my second Huawei phone, and i have to say the fingerprint placement is fantastic. Great colors. Many customization opportunities. MANY. Brilliant, brilliant phone. 10/10

Something about the camera: There is large aperture mode (the aperture icon on top) and portrait mode (the little human icon in the top middle). Portrait mode is specifically for (human) faces, when it detects a face it automatically uses 192 points on that face to expose it properly and tweak some extra things to make it look better while also blurring out the background unadjustability. The large aperture mode is for everything else (like the plant you took a picture of) and you can also adjust the focus and amount of blur afterwards. The reason it didn't look very blurred is because you probably used portrait mode instead of large aperture mode on the plant/tree but because it didn't detect a human (I know the plant has a face but it's not human enough) it didn't apply any extra blur. The reason there was still a little bit of blur though is because of the large f/1.6 aperture a natural physical bokeh will happen faster and that's probably what you saw.

Yep. When I first got the Huawei P10 I made the same mistake thinking Portrait Mode was the same as the iPhone when in fact to get the bokeh effect you actually use Wide Aperture Mode and Portrait Mode for human portraits.

Nice video I have the regular Huawei Mate 10 with the memory card headphone jack and 16:9 ratio and I charge it every other day typically. Love the camera and battery life once I discovered the Mate series last year (9 & 9 pro) I stopped using Samsung devices these phones learn you and the battery life improves after you break it in. The phone also stays fast and doesn't lag like touchwiz overtime.

Exactamundo. Lucky us it's with carriers in Australia too. Too much competition for the local phone maker in US with Samsung hitting Apple hard, now Huawei. Any excuse to block sales. All phone companies ALLOW spying on users even tho they themselves don't necessarily do it. It's completely allowed by anti T laws in most western countries. Some Americans amaze me with how ignorant they are with what's going on around us all. We have a bunch of Apple phones and iPads. Cannot measure accurate on-screen time with iPhone full stop. FINALLY someone mentioning a fact I have been saying for years: phone manufacturers NEED different skins in order to differentiate from one another and that's where they can flex their muscles and show their R&D involvement. Do we really need all phones to have the same notched display, the same form factor with the same Qualcomm chip inside? I for one love the diversity we have in the smartphone market and really love the Mate 10 Pro ...dunno whether to wait out for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 or jump on the Mate 10 Pro (there's an offer for around550$). Also as long as the camera hardware is good small caveats like the over-exposure and stuff like that can be sorted via software, remember that the Pixel 2XL is considered to have one of the best cameras around simply due to their software algorithms. All in all fantastic review :)

I went from a Mate 9 to a Pixel 2XL. One thing i really miss from my Mate 9 is being able to adjust the background blur effect (focal point and aperture) before and after taking a photo, there are no adjustments on the Pixel.

I consistently get 5hr 30mins screen on time on my Huawei p9. 3000 Mah battery. You should get way more on the mate 10 if you manage what you leave on like NFC and mobile data.

18Me10 don't be wavered by this one. Huawei makes great phones. I got one last Christmas and I upgraded to the S8+ but it doesn't really compete with the Mate 8 even battery wise. I have to charge it at work where with the Mate 8 I wouldn't need to charge until I got to work the next day. My S8+ also lags and freezes up from time to time. My Mate 8 doesn't.

I had the mate9 and I would get up to 2 days on a single charge. The built in battery optimization software is really good too. It puts apps to sleep if there not in use for X amount of time. Paired with machine learning you get great battery life.Anyone else that had the mate 9 can vouch.

indeed it is. 2 days ago i took out of charging at 90% at 3pm and i constantly used it in the office which included web browsing, whatsapp and youtube (wifi). i went home at 1am late night and it was still at 50% with 4 hours of screen on time. i used it a little before sleeping too. the following day i had to go to another city and as i was late i didn't have time to charge it. so i had to rely on its battery as it was at 43% that time.i used gps with mobile data to reach my destination and when i got back afternoon at 2pm the phone was at 23%. and the screen on time was 5 hours 30 minutes.

yup and that also when i took it out at 90%. had i charged to 100% the results would be even better. i got it for 750$ (6gb/128gb) which is the best deal for a phone this capable. and i live in ksa. as it is an asian country huawei phones are way cheaper here

Love your review as all your reviews. To be honest though I get 6 hours SOT on my pixel 2 XL, got 7 on the Pixel 2 and 9 hours SOT in the s8 plus so I'm not sure what kind of screen on time I'd get with this phone but I'm guessing 10 or 11 which would be amazing.

Just wondering, if you were to record 4k videos on your Huawei mate 10 pro, do your videos play properly/normally on your video players on your computer? Also, does it play well on video editing softwares too? I'm only asking cause mine doesn't play on Vlc player/ Windows media player. Also it doesn't work on my filmora wonders are video editor. I think it has to do with the codec =(
