Mate 20 pro is a very capable shooter for street photography. You dont want to carry heavy dslr all the time. So this is the best option

As an amateur photo guy, it is really nice to hear it from a pro's perspective about the pros and cons of the smartphone camera. Someone outside the KZbin tech community who gives his insights solely on one particular part of the phone. Personally, after using the P20 Pro for almost 8 months now, I cannot say enough about the quality and flexibility using the Huawei camera. Played with the Mate 20 Pro & I dont see that much of a difference to switch. Yes, there is too much sharpening, the night mode restores a lot of details in the dark but looks artificial, HDR is sometimes too agressive, selife camera & the video are mediocre - buuut the sheer amount of Fun this camera offers, especially in the postprocessing is truly amazing. Thnx for the feedback Mr. Ansel & would definitely love for this series to continue! Cheers gentleman

I wish Huawei would just enable 3rd party camera support for all rear and front camera RAW files... One would not need to switch between stock camera app and Lightroom mobile when shooting RAW and then can directly develop photo in Lightroom mobile without switching apps. But that's just nitpicking.

I like the camera a lot and I wasnt too surprised with the results. I have liked the video but I assume you used the wrong thumbnail...so this will get deleted and I'd have to like the new one again 🙄 Update: Learns you can change the thumbnail without re-uploading

I have a question just in case he reads the comments, how exactly did you shoot RAW out of the other lenses? On my P20 Pro it doesn't let me shoot RAW out of anything but the 40MP main sensor, trying to zoom in Pro mode gives me a message saying "You cannot zoom in when raw is enabled" or something along those lines.

Mate 20 PRO allows you to shoot RAW with all rear cameras , P20 won't.

@@orangea9458 That's not how it works lol, every camera phone in the planet shoots RAW, the manufacturer chooses NOT to give you the RAW file instead, meaning every single picture out of every single camera on my P20 Pro was RAW information at some point in time, that just didn't get put into a file because Huawei hasn't enabled it to do so.

Can you please also add some macro photography to mix? One of special features of Mate 20 PRO is that it has AF wide 16mm 20 Mpix lens. Which can focus really close. For example LG V40 have only fixed focus close to infinity.

In night mode, it doesn't use the tele lens...just digital zoom from the 1x lens.

Hi guys @boredatwork, Thank you for your detailed review, I agree that the aperture mode is really cool, versatility is there. And still I have a specific question for you, did you feel the lack of the monochrome lens, compared to the P20 pro, and to the overall added benefit one could find in dynamic range of the picture? wtf aspect ratio 18:9 can only be used when 6mp is set.. so every time i have to crop a photo because a. r. is 4:3 and 1:1 on higher resolution!?

Nice review,and certainly the Mate 20 pro is capable of some amazing images,but I would have loved to have seen some prints from this video.I print a lot of images,as for me it's the final part of the photographers workflow,and would be interested in switching over to Huawei if I could have seen the quality of some large prints,not the end of the world,but that would have done it for me.As I said good review and thanks,Tony😁

I'm trying to work out if I could get away with just using this phone to take deadpan photos for showing in galleries considering it has a 40mp camera, or although a pain to carry about all day, would my fuji xt20 be better with only 24mp? I've heard many professionals using a 10mp dslr producing detailed super quality large A0 prints, So I'm confused as to what is realisticly needed to create brilliant large prints professionally?

One+ 6t is just a midranger and so is the camera. My best friend has it and he says that the S7 he rapleced takes little better pictures than 6t. Also the screen is better in S7 He loves though the 6t speed and Oxigen OS

It is like choosing between mom and dad I wish Note 9 had the Huawei battery life and ESPECIALLY ultra fast charging - it is so so usefull, the ultra wide angle lens and night shots Or the Mate 20 pro to have from Note 9 : S Pen, stereo speaker, video quality and Samsung soft....

Got one but returned it after a few days. Did not like the picture quality at all in less optimal conditions.... (think cloudy weather) mainly because of the very strong vignetting of the wide angle lens but also to some point the standard lens. Too low shutter speed or compression as result... I checked the RAW files to be able to edit the images myself for a better final result but was shocked... poor quality match lenses highly reducing the quality that could be achieved with this smartphone. Despite the less intuitive software I went back to my Samsung S9+ again making better pictures more easy...

MKBHD is a joke, he's by far the most overrated tech KZbin in the business, he said the iPhone SX Max had a worse camera than the Pixel 2 XL even, where the XS Max has probably the best HDR processing in the market right now. What a bunch of bullshit that guy is.

ATTENTION, téléphone trop frágil. J'ai un trou et plusieurs griffes dans l'écran, et ça, fait avec une simple carte plastique que j'ai eu le malheur de mettre dans mon ettui à la place prévu pour pendant 2 jours. En plus moi aussi je suis concerné par le gluegate. En faible luminosité j'ai une lueur verte que s'étend déjà à presque tout l'écran. Smartphone bien puissant mais de faible qualité. Je suis déçu 😥
