They wouldn't have been able to fit a periscope camera into this design because the periscope camera sensor is sideways and it needs length. The P30 camera goes on the side and down meaning enough space. With the cameras in the middle the battery is there. But DXO mark says the Mate 30 does better at short to mid range zoom. In addition, the Mate 30 has upgraded sensors and cameras allowing it to take better overall pictures and much better video. Even at 3x optical, it is still better than most of the competition like the Note and iPhone with only 2x. Plus it still goes to 30x which is great.

What Huawei’s mobile division needs is someone that can polish the fine details in my opinion. You see that the brand offers exceptional hardware potential but lacks software refinement. It’s pretty obvious with things like the overall software interface that lacks an identity of its own; while recording video, the transitions from one camera to another is pretty abrupt and the white balance shifts pretty noticeably, something that Apple doesn’t have; it doesn’t offer 4K 60fps across all cameras, both in the rear and in the front; the screen is of excellent quality, since it is más by Samsung I think, but the white balance is not very good calibrated and the screen has a green hues where the display bends. Something that truly drives me insane, though I know it’s me being extremely picky, is that the USB-C port doesn’t align symmetrically horizontally and how the top and bottom bezels aren’t the same width, I specially note this since you can’t see the side bezels.

Been watching Yugatech vids for quite some time now. Prod Val has drastically improved as well as delivery. Also, detailed review. Covered everything normies like me would ask and want. Though I still have a question 🙋 (trade war be damned), say I decided to install YT, FB, IG and all these playstore apps via third party loader, would these apps be updated automatically or do I have to re install them again to check if there's a new version?

@@slandgkearth What I mean is they can't launch it in different markets because of that OS problems plus it's a threat for your security if you download an android app not in playstore also youre not getting the full version of those google apps, your not getting future security updates and you cannot upgrade to future android 11 or 12 or even 13. And I think many people won't prefer a phone with that software issues that's why they can't release it in international markets. Yaaahh it was packed with different hardware new features but the software issues drag this phone down.

The mainpoint is, they made it as an open source android, where in as you said u can install apps from google playstore, why? Cause its open source license android and about the security, huawei will still launch security patch update but without the google interference. Hence, this whole mate 30 pro without google is just an experiment weighing the results if what will happen if they launch a smartphone without google in it. They do have the beast waiting to be release. The Harmony OS and that will be the start of what is Huawei capable of being alone on its own

Are u kidding us? Do you think downscale resolution from setting closes that pixels? Man it is "nearly only" a game side battery saver setting. Less resolution means less power from hardware in a same static fps but it is also not looks good as native 1080p... But yeah with that huge battery, mate 30 pro must be at least 2k while younger brother is 1080p :)

No Google play store BUT You can't install Google apps anymore as it has been blocked. LZPlay, an app which lets you install Google play store and services has been blocked. This was the only way to get apps to be sideloaded for this phone.

Why do you need a 2k QHD panel on something as small as a phone? You won't see any real difference. Even QHD phones come out of the box set to FHD only and most people leave it there. I have a Mate 20 pro and used both the QHD and FHD mode. Really I could not see any difference whatsoever other than QHD making things smaller to fit more on a screen. But even at FHD at the same size you can still read small text. So me, and probably everyone else with an option to use QHD never end up using QHD. It really isn't necessary in a phone. So what don't you get about the logic?
