I've had my Mate 9 for almost a year and love it. My only problem, still, is learning all the ins and outs of of operations. I'm 70 plus and all this new fangled stuff takes me awhile. I had the Mate 2 and was thinking bout the latest Samsung note but opted for the Mate 9 based on cost and to match up with my carrier, Consumer Cellular. For anyone thinking bout this magic machine you have my vote. Mr Williams you presentation is great and just the right speed for me to keep up.

J. Thanks you for your great reviews. It was your review that really prompted me to run out and get this one. I'm impressed with it. I felt the same way you do about the Honor 8 too. Mate 9 battery life is stellar. currently 6.5 hours of SOT with 20% left. Nuts. still haven't put the camera to a true test yet but I will tomorrow. Was gonna wait to order a case but I might as well just do it. Huawei is killing it right now.

I have it for about a week now. It is a very good product. Battery is longlasting and it charges really fast. I suggest everyone to check it out if you are considering getting a new phone. Definitely worth the money. And, It is only $599 USD

wait this guy says it's 6hr heavy use?? I'm not a heavy user, and I come from blackberry, I'm more used to seeing ~36hrs on low-moderate use. How long does this battery last you? I'm looking for something that will run for at least 12hr with moderate use!

Sara Sue If just checking facebook, texting, twitter, ins, and etc, I would say at least 6 hours screen time, meaning the amount of time the device is active. So, I would say that you won't need to charge it for at least 10 hours. I never went out of battery. And it charges quite fast.

6hr *screen* time! Okay that's better. I'm assuming that's not dimmed brightness either. My provider doesn't carry this phone unfortunately, so I would have to buy it off contract, but it looks great... I love the camera and display the most.

I'm currently using huawei p9. P9 is amazing so far imo. I tried Mate 9 for a while, just playing around with the display unit. What can I say is, this phone is a beast. Amazing phone overall.

On release date there was a long ass line at my local Best Buy for the Mate 9, sold out within minutes. It's really nice, I want it. Especially curious about it's "artificial intelligence" (it's supposed to keep the phone fast even after years by optimizing your most used apps) and I'm liking that EMUI has an app drawer now.

JW, great review! For this old guy, the top headphone jack is on the left while watching a movie, and that is good, for me. I currently own the Huawei Honor 8 Note, and their Media 8.4 tab; with the first still on the way, $355 at XXXXXX was fine with me. A 2k AMOLED screen? Heck yeah!

I've had mine for almost a week. I had a Note 4 that needed to go bad. It was locking up on everything and unusable. I'm a hardcore Samsung Fan, and after the Note 4 I was not impressed with the 5, and never got to use the 7. However I must say I am pleasantly surprised with this phone. The screen is beautiful, battery life is over a day with some moderate heavy usage. Camera isn't FANTASTIC, but it isn't bad and does what it suppose to. Finger print is incredibly fast. Would buy again, I feel this will hold me over till the Note 8 then I'll decide if I'm just going to keep this one.

Williams bro I went to best by last night bro and was blown away by the screen and those speakers are wonderful I like how it switch between one speaker too two speakers and for that price that's the perfect price range and i love the s7 edge but it can't beat the mate 9 but besides having a 2k screen and etc but I'm sold on the mate 9 cameras bigger battery awesome screen yea good job Huawei

I have 2 Huawei honor 8's that I bought around March 2017 and I just got the Chinese version of the Huawei MATE 9 with 6 Gigabytes of RAM & 128 Gigabytes of ROM today November 4, 2017. I installed a 128 Gigabyte Samsung EVO micro SDXC UHS-I Card with transfer speed of 100MB/s. It's amazing. I just love Huawei phones. To me they're better than Samsung and Apple. Very smooth, fast and the camera is awesome.

I agree with you in most cases. The black level of the screen is absolutely the best I've ever seen on IPS cell phone screens. But the color accuracy isn't quite good compared to my old Sony Z2. Also the stereo performance is mediocre to the Z2. But it's worth the money generally

J. I'm seriously looking at this phone and I've watched allot of reviews. But no one has touched on the Dual SIM and what carrier the unlocked phone performs best on. I live in the mountains of Western NC. and Verizon is king here. can I use Verizon or AT&T? T-Mobile gets no play here unless you live next door to the tower and then maybe. I would appreciate your feedback before I pull the trigger. my other choices is the LG-V20 or LG-G6 but I have to wait for MWC to see the G6.

i just bought the phone about a week ago and you are right it is a beast much better than all other flagships cost about 1000$ this is cheap at 600$ worth every penny imo best phone out so far and the only gripe you have the headphone being on the top well i am thankful it has one at least dont matter its on top or bottom as long as you have one you should be thankful like me this days haha great review my friend

I'm rocking one mocha brown and I truly agree with you. The things I miss, coming from Windows 10 Mobile are the integration with Microsoft apps, Cortana, and live tiles. But that had to do with Android not the phone. Loving my Mate 9.

Only nitpick I have about mine is the slight yellow hue on the bottom of the screen. I'm on my replacement, so assuming it's relatively normal. Apart from that, this phone is the shit.

That's strange, I was at BB, this past Friday, and I was checking the Mate 9 out and, while I was on it, asked if I wanted to update the phone, and I answered yes, and it DL'd and installed it. Took about 6 or so minutes. I ordered the phone today, should be here this Thursday. Thanks to you.

peter tulk well I have this phone for more than a month and got 2 upgrades for far and yes low light capabilities are improved and ebmven out of the box it was a great camera device just buy it, it's awesome machine and you will love it like hot cakes.

I have the Moto Z Play.... great phone at a great price point but the Mate 9 is just different levels even with the Moto mods..... highly recommend the JBL speaker mod though

TheIMYFather hows everything ? I've heard it doesn't fast charge except with it's official charger ? I have Qualcomm QC 3.0 , will that work tho? Also how's the battery and camera ? If I get mate 9 in future , battery would be a downgrade since my Moto z play gives me 10% use per hour battery, occasionally 8-10hours Max sot. I've heard there are some problems with mate 9 like screen touch problems etc

I am an LG V20 user. I love my device but the battery is just not that good, it's not terrible but I always have to charge every night. Good thing I got a spare battery. I can't stop to research more and more about the Mate 9, I wanna get it but I wanna see the LG G6 and the S8 series of Samsung.

you wont see any difference if the screen was 2k because of the size of the screen. 2k works best on big screen TV's. I too have a mate 9 but its alpine white and I love this phone, my only problem is that its sometimes to big for my hands. I almost brought a galaxy s8 but for 599 I couldn't beat it.

E-ink He said in another comment that he purchased it at Best Buy. Keep in mind also that they will price-match Amazon (U.S. vendors only), and you get a 14-day no-questions-asked return period, as long as the device is undamaged. Unfortunately though, they have started charging $35 restocking fees. I don't work for BB, but I like them overall.
