Great video, nice to see an unbiased review of the P20 Pro. I chose it over the S9+ and have no regrets, the usual comments refer to the notch, 4K stabilization, no SD slot and no headphone port. The notch has no effect on usability and you get used to it very quickly. 4K stabilization, no big deal and if an update comes it comes. No SD slot, neither do iPhone, use a cloud service, 128GB is massive. No headphone port, use a dongle or Bluetooth headphones, I have used Bose wireless headphones for months and prefer them. Think people need to open their minds and realise that there are more then two phone makers out there.

Paul Reddish I agree with you, I feel consumers really need to start looking at things in a different light. Huawei has done extremely well with the P20 Pro, I am really enjoying mine and it pretty much ticks most boxes. Like you I use cloud storage and I have many great Bluetooth headphones, I wish people would stop looking for excuses to put this phone down as it is a great great device 👍🏽

1080p is always better than 2k when it comes to 5-6" devices. You don't see any pixels with either resolution but 1080p saves battery life and makes the UI and games run smoother... There is basically no upside to 2k in my opinion.

Ive got a day left until I make a decision. The only dealbreaker for me is the headphone jack adapter. When you mean that the HTC dongle makes the sound of your wired headphones louder as opposed to quiet and muffled as you say, do you mean that the audio being output is better than plugging it in for say an S9 or do you mean it simply just makes it louder and it still doesnt produce the original overall sound quality that it should be. I mean its a dongle, shouldnt it hinder with the original quality compared to plugging it on a 3.5mm jack instead. I need your answer.

Also, I really appreciate the review. Unlike any other big tech channels that did the review of this phone out there, you were able to spot the tiny details which was the missing justification I had to really buy this phone and give away my S9. Especially when you mentioned the HTC adapter and the AI that optimised the phone based on how you use your phone as an individual. I came from the old generation where CPU and benchmarks mattered but I learned from you that in this era, it doesnt affect the real world performance at all. Right now its all about how the company optimises their device.

The HTC dongle improved the volume and the sound quality compared to the dongle that comes with it because it has a 24bit DAC built into the HTC dongle. Now if you have the exynos s9 plus I have to say it sounds better because it has a high quality 32bit DAC built into the phone and it drives headphones better and the overall quality sounds better to my ears. Plus the advantage of not needing a dongle is overall nicer. The Snapdragon s9 plus uses the DAC built into the Snapdragon chipset which is not as high quality as the exynos phone.

I knew that someday I would have to make this transition and the time is now. Audiophiles gotta do what audiophiles gotta do. It’s crazy ive watched so many reviews on this phone you are the only one who really went in depth into this phone! Thank you for giving this phone a worthy review ! I have heard that the Bluetooth signal is weak via phone? Also how is the app integration I heard the apps like Snapchat and Instagram get cropped edges and the notch covers some features of the apps? Any issues also I heard a big one was the google maps crashing and buggy

Its not weak tbh but it will depend on the Number of walls between your device and yourself such as walls etc. I haven't had any issues personally I hope this helps

Just bought the phone and I’m not sure what happened but the headphone jack adapter works fine for me. The sound quality isn’t low neither is volume. What are some ways to optimize the battery ? I get about 4hours 30min screen on time I’m glad to took a chance I was about to go with note 9 but all the concerns I had are either non existent or fixed. Phone works smooth apps work very well! Great buy I saved $500+

When I use non Sony Bluetooth headphones such as beyerdynamic they sound great, for some reason Sony Bluetooth headphones don’t get loud enough with this phone.

Tech Ziller first this is the best review I have seen to date and you are correct not all Dongles are created equal I found this out through picking one up at staples. Absolutely does make a difference in the way they are made. Love the review on this Device nailed it with a description of the device as well, Beautiful in my opinion from the build, Camera, Sound and do understand what you are saying about sound in earpiece had this with another device where it was killer speakers but because of dongle, you can have much different experience. Very useful video .. i took your advice to get the case and screen protector you recommended and as you said it is very very great... Hope you keep making these sort of videos not like some of the reviewers who basically advertise for some benefits they get in return... 1 question : can you give us more information about when that big software upgrade comes to live so we can have better 4k ? Also please make your desktop mode review earlier as i have had Dex and want to see the differences before get one.. and if you can introduce some useful dongle for desktop as well which works with s8 s9 ( Dex mode ) and p20 pro... Need to check the speed transfer for usb as well.. Again thanks.. I'm enjoying my VRS design case you recommended+same screen protector you said and they are perfect match... I was having issues with my new s22. 3.5 mm jack is not included anymore and I upgraded note 8 to s22. sound quality through type c was terrible comparing to note 8 with 3.5 mm jack. No April update yet, I would say Huawei are average with updates, I wish I could justify the price of the Mate RS but I can’t so unless I can get a review unit I doubt I will review it. Tbh it doesn’t matter how good it is that price would automatically cause me to advise consumers to avoid it.
