I had this phone for 3 years and it has not gone slow or anything. It works like new till this day. I've dropped it 100 times and screen hasn't cracked ever. Best phone I ever had

Just picked up a P20 brand new for £210 on Facebook Marketplace. WOW!!! bargain of the century. Best launcher is by far the Rootless Pixel 2 Launcher, works perfectly and weather widget is built in

This is my current phone. My friend has an iPhone X. I compared both devices. Build quality is almost the same, even the weight. They have the same software smoothness and animation. They really look the same. I was actually surprised the moment I held an iPhone X I wasn't even intimidated by it considering the fact that it costs a lot. Great build quality you got there P20!

Well the 3.5" jack is kinda irrelevant actually, i was very sceptical too. Main reason being that you can still use your headphones (Audio Technica MSR-7 in my case) with the included USB-C to 3.5" adaptor. And no, the adaptor does NOT have a DAC, so you can enjoy high quality sound with the integrated DAC of the phone(anyone can confirm which is it?). Seems like the sound passes in analogue via the adaptor to the headphones, the Type C has that one covered with a couple of contacts if the manufacturer wishes so. Apple removed the DAC from the phone as well i guess?

Yeah we need to move one. Even Bluedio a Chinese headphone company has a model that uses USB type C all in one interface. If companies keep the headphone jack then headphone manufacturers will stay stagnant with Bluetooth technologies. Also USB type C actually carries more electricity that a 3.5mm interface, so it has the potential to deliver higher quality sound and higher bit rates. With such good alternatives, the headphone jack can be left behind now. I just wished we could get two USB c ports on at least flagship phones.

My phone is 5 days old. I just noticed it today as I listen carefully to its speakers and feeling it through vibration, the left speaker is not emitting sound nor vibrating (as a indication that it works as the right speaker does.) Is this normal or I have a defective unit? Please reply ASAP, so I can go to the store and ask for replacement. Thank you.

Depends on how big you want your phone to be. P20 is usefully more compact and camera is slightly better but mate 10 pro has bigger battery and amoled. The p20 battery is excellent but mate 10 pro is outstanding. Mate 10 pro speaker better. Overall I prefer p20 as it's smaller. Owned both and p20 is more manageable size.

I own a Huawei phone and indeed it's not that friendly to launchers. However, I managed to use Nova Launcher by directly going into settings and choosing Nova launcher as the default launcher, it will not crash there.

Does the x really notch out the videos, those I saw on the bus just look like iPhone 8 videos with huge bezel either side. Excellent review btw. I like the smaller p20. Can skip the pro then. Great review and I'm really interested in.camera due to.its low light as I've just got it today. What's it like doing Astrophotography taking pics of the stars and milky way? I've always been so keen in smartphone Astrophotography and I currently have Samsung s7.

You can see stars on photos but they are not that sharp. Only tried handheld. If you mount on tripod I would expect better. Good manual mode and good light sensitivity. Probably better than most compact cameras, worse than SLR.

How is the microphone quality in the social apps? I am quite worried since I purchased the S9+ last week and my girlfriend and couple of other people could not hear me in the Social apps at all. I sounded muffled and the mic could not make up its mind when to use the noise cancellation at all. I returned the phone after 4 days of struggle and got a replacement one. Same issue, and on top of the mic, I had an autofocus issue with the selfie cam, similar to the S8 and S8+ where you had to shake the camera to get the focus back. It didn't take long to use Google and find the official thread where a LOT of people had similar issues with the Samsung. Google Pixel 2 and P20 Pro also reported similar issues. I was considering the P20 Lite but that has even more issues on top of the mic ones. The only phone, which seems not to have any issues reported on the web so far is the P20. Please, let me know if you had any bad experience while in Social apps with muffled voice or anything along those lines. Thank you for the review!
