Since I got my P20 Pro, I rarely use anything other than the zoom lens. I usually manage to get much more natural shots of people (friends), probably because they feel less uncomfortable with a camera that's rather far away. With a normal camera they often tend to try and align themselves in the frame, look into the camera, etc. - all things I rarely want to see in a photo. Can't imagine to go back to a phone without optical zoom.

It's certainly the best camera phone on the market. Amazing what a phone can do today that an old camcorder couldn't. I know a couple who got a friend to use their Nikon DSLR to photograph their wedding. They ended up printing another friends Huawei p20pro's pictures because they were better.

already got one and im soo happy with this phone. actualy i dont have any problem without the gms and no point to scare without the gms. already use this phone for almost 2 month(some reviewers use it only for 1 day or 2 day or check it for a while coz its not a main smartphone). all my apps is there. appsgallery is very intelligent...its can help to find another source.. top up gaming also no problem,so many choice and more cheap in online shopping..good for gamers, consistent performance, low heat generate compare to sd865..love for the camera, gaming n build quality...

Hello, are you able to log in your youtube accnt on a p30 pro browser, chrome, mozilla or cm browser? I am using a Huawei Nova 5T ,but loved to have a P30 Pro, however, as I updated my phone's software, it won't allow me to log in. It says app is not updated even they were updated, tried other browsers but I am getting the same error. (Tried to do a desktop view on my browser app but still no good).. Not sure if it is bec of that Google issue. My KZbin app works fine tho. I am trying to access my youtube monetization settings and that's how I encountered this problem..

saraiva dias not too sure about the updates, had the p30 pro quite a while ago. I must say that the screen on the Samsung is much better and so is the camera in certain categories. The zoom is great but 5x is just too much, colors on all lenses look off in my opinion. Fast charging and battery life (Exynos) was definitely better on the Huawei. I also used OnePlus and must say that it was my best android experience so far!! Currently using iPhone which is just great!!! Hope that helps!

Some considerations: 1) 2x is not the sweet spot, because the 50mm equivalent in smartphones basically offers no compression, and zoom without compression the pixel 3a can make digitally with sampling and get better results than the iPhone dedicated 2x zoom (in the Pixel, the ois motor moves and takes each frame in a different position). 3x in smartphones has a nice compression already. 2) ultrawide in Huawei is less wide (0.6x against 0.5x of other companies) for a very good reason: the camera has autofocus, has less lens distortions and doubles as macro camera, which switches automatically when you try to take a picture of something really close, the results are fantastic. The Ultrawide in samsung is just a go-pro like image, with no further usage. 3) I rarely see reviews showing the ISO capabilities of Huawei, which combines a mult noise reduction (MFNR) to take amazing pictures in low light, which makes you use the high ISO more than night mode because it takes not more than 1 second in toughest conditions. You can manage to take a picture of a tree with foliage details out of total dark with iso 409600 (no noise, no crazy colors, no blur).

You forgot to reveal the reason why there is no clear case in the box. Huawei doesn't suggest that you need one because the opaque white (or black) ceramic built back is not just gorgeous to look at, but also very resistant to scratches from sand & dust. It's made of a type of ceramic compound with a MOHS hardness of 8.5, which is harder than those quartz (MOHS of 7) trapped in the sand & dust.

you forgot that the p30 pro has also 5x optical zoom and oppo reno X6 optical from 2019. You mention oppo find x2 pro and galaxy s20 ultra(which bassicaly uses 4x optical zoom) as a previews record

Great review! You have amazing content! Yo just found both your channels and love your content great comparison! Have a question so I'm on the note 9 I love it, the performance is great, display is amazing and love the features, can't give it up But I also miss iOS and my iphone that I used to have and my apple watch that's lying around, so I know alot of people do it, carry 2 phones so I was thinking about getting like a cheap xr or even a xs max still, to have both iOS and Android since I'm into phones, one would be on wifi and I'd just switch off and also be able to use my apple watch because I can't get myself to get a galaxy watch, another thing is I don't care for iMessage FaceTime or airdrop because I use WhatsApp for everything so would it still make sense if I want to also have an iPhone?
