Thank you! Appreciate the feedback. I've read touching the void a few times now and I keep struggling to comprehended how they were logistically cable of even getting to Base Camp back in the 80s let alone attempt Siula Grande . Experiencing the Huayhuash back them would have been extraordinarily special.

Thank you. You've captured some nice footage of the trek yourself. San Antonio Pass sunset shots were insane! We needed to bail with the weather.

Hi Liam . Awesome video and adventure!! I’m going to Peru the next December and I’ll do the Huayhuash trek . Lot of people not recommend me do the trek in December but i will do. In what month you did the trek ?
@ScalingSummits2 ай бұрын
Hi Raul, Cheers for watching, I did the trek from early November. The trek at this time was very quiet, we didn’t come across anyone for the 8 days. Not sure if your planning to do it solo or with others independently but we did find it difficult to flag down the bus to the starting trail due to limited interest. The weather can be hit and miss and the forecast is a pit unpredictable for that range unfortunately. I was expecting the worst but overall got pretty lucky when we did it. Make sure to pack for the worst, its essentially a mountain terrain environment. You'll most likely comes across a few passes with snow by that time and they could be unpassable, its hard to say.

Hey man thanks for the beautiful video! Flying from the UK to Peru in a month, and just wondering how fit you would need to be for the guided (supported) Huayhuash trek? Good health in my early 20s, but not much experience with multi day hiking.
@ScalingSummits Жыл бұрын
Cheers mate. The toughest part of the trek is the altitude and carrying your own gear. If doing a guided tour, the agency will make the trek more enjoyable as they will obviously load the gear onto mules/ donkeys and prepare all the campsite and food. Suggest being well acclimatised prior to starting the trek so you enjoy the most of it. Not sure how experienced you are at alitude, however I would recommend a few day treks once in Huaraz as a minimum. Examples such as Laguna 69, Laguna Churup & Laguna paron all easily bookable from hostels, in town etc. If you havn't already book there are plently of local tour companies that you can find around Huaraz. Also suggest bringing reasonably good gear from home if you them as opposed to renting as you'll be entering an alpine environment where the weather can change at any point. If you need any other info, let me know.

@lLamVeigel how did you transport the fuel into the country? Thank you
@ScalingSummits2 ай бұрын
Hi Lenca, I purchased the gas cans in Huaraz, there are plenty of camping/ hiking stores throughout the town that stock them. Cost approx 35 to 40 soles.

In November I will be doing this Trekking, I am doing a lot of cardio, any suggestions?
@ScalingSummits3 ай бұрын
Hi, Cardio is a good starting point. I generally build up the walking distance and increase weight in a backpack. Don't forget to work on going down hill too, most injuries are sustained on the decent. The other major factor is being acclimatised before the trek. Doesn't matter how fit you are if you're not acclimatised. Some possible day hikes in Huaraz as follows: Laguna 69 acclimatation day hike 4600 - can arrange in any hostel Laguna Churnp 4600- Can catch local bus to trail head for 10 soles each way Laguna Paron (day hike 4600) - long way to go on a bus (not much walking 45min. Still decent view. Lots more smaller climbs and galcier walks in Huaraz Santa cruz 3-4 day hike (havnt done this, but would be on the list)
