Clean and Recharge K&N Cabin air filter

I like to use the spray air fresheners on the cabin air filters. Makes the air coming in smell good too. And lasts a while.

I have considered getting a K&N, for my 2013 Camry, due to the fact an Arm and Hammer replaceable filter in Canada is about $25,00 +tax There are so many CROOKS in the automotive industry. Everything from oil to filters and the list goes on! Great video by the way!

Please note, before you read my way of doing this on the cheap, I just want to say that this guy's way is proper and good. So now, you can read my method -- it really works well, and it's quite cost effective for a cabin filter. Now when it comes to the engine filter, I would use K&Ns kit to clean. For me, personally, I am going to first use the air blower for my computer and blow out the dry dirt from the top side down. Next, I will mix up a hot bucket of clean water, add a good amount of DAWN FOR DISHES PLATINUM dish soap Nto the water, swish the water and soap around a bit. Next, submerge the filter into the water and soap, swish it around for a bit, then keep it submerged and let it sit overnight. Next day, take it out, rinse it thoroughly with a water sprayer and rinse it well. Lastly, I will change the water out adding fresh clean water again; this time I will use about a half-ounce of Lysol concentrate (brown bottle) to a full bucket of water, then swish the filter in this water very briefly, then take it out and shake the filter removing all the water I can from it manually. Next, let it dry naturally for as long as it takes to dry completely. Replace filter in car. The filter now is totally clean, totally decontaminated of all germs and has only a slight Lysol residue smell to it (which will go away in no time when the fan is turned on in your car. The idea behind Lysol is, it kills germs, bacteria, etc., and keeps it bacteria-free for a long time. Enjoy the fresh air, you're done!

Not on the cabine air filters. And not all engine air filters are oiled either

I just brought one but it has no arrows on it for me to know which direction the air flow should be so I don't know what side is up or down can you help me?

Can dish detergent be used instead of the original cleaner? And what does the refresher do? Can it be skipped?

Dawn I'm sure would work. But you need the refresher. Without it the filter will not work near as good. It is a oil compound that helps trap dust.

I always make sure that filter is 100 percent dry.

Is the fit the same as OEM or is it 'close'?

They fit same snug as the oem filters did into my vehicles that have them.
