TWO Toyota Tercels, several Protons, Maestros, Marinas, the last ever Cavalier, some HubNut test vehicles and one happy Daewoo Matiz - yes, it's the Festival of the Unexceptional. A wonderful celebration of the ordinary cars of yesteryear. This report sees us attempt to capture as many cars on camera as possible. Thanks to all those who came to say hello!

*37:06** That's not just any simple Proton. That's a truly rare Proton Saga 1.5GL "Black Knight" Special Edition that's only exclusively for Great Britain. For the limited 201 unit of Black Knight, this one probably the last of its kind.*

Yes, I can imagine your "car boot sale"-style narration and music playing over the event, almost expecting one or two "parts" purchases along the way! I think it would fit your channel like a glove if you did this [next time around?]. You could put something of an emphasis on to early onboard computers in old 80s execs for example, or maybe even pre-computer tech...I think it was Rolls Royce that produced this amazing Britain-wide scrolling map back in the 1920s, as well as rudimentary navigation on cassette systems. Alot of untapped potential for tech in old cars...

I was having difficulty identifying a lot of those as I was an adult by then and "modern cars" were of no interest other than a means to get somewhere in comfort like a Granada or P5B. Cars from Childhood or earlier, a different story, 30's, 40's, 50's and early 60's. This is generational, young kids of today will be drooling over the EV's of childhood in 50 years.

So many vehicles! The range, but most importantly, the condition, were outstanding! The Hillman saloon you featured we received in the US as the 1971 Plymouth Cricket! The Avenger might be rare, but I believe the Cricket is even more rare! The Mitsubishi Lancer was the Dodge Colt in the US for many years, and was very popular. The Renault 11 was the Encore, with a standard 1.4 litre 4, 1.7 was optional. Right at the time of the AMC alliance with Renault, which I'm sure you know the outcome of that! Loved the story of the Toyota Tercel 4WD, which we also got. Heartwarming to hear that the Tercel you tried to save lives on. It looks like both you and Carly had a magnificent time, and thank you Sir HubNut for this presentation of exceptional vehicles, including the reshod Myrtle Matiz!

Always ignoring the MGB's hahaha, I knew it! That Maestro van immediately brings nback memories of me watching Mr. Bean!!! I remember some Royal Mail vans touring around in the background of several of his sketches, but not sure whether it were Fords or Maestro's. When there is a lovely sculpted Triumph 2000/2500 and a W126 next to it, of course HubNut goes to the W126 that is boxy, and without character honestly. Good to see you back on reporting and covering a great deal of a car show! Cheers from Belgium

Yeah brings back memories, my Dad had a Commer Luton van with a ten foot plastic aerial which were the rage back in the 70's along with Mickey Mouse and Pluto graphics on the front and a La Cuckooracha air horn. I recall a child running out from behind an ice cream van and my Dad stomping on the brakes, we all nearly went through the windscreen the huge van stopped instantly despite or because it had huge drum brakes on the front. That thing had a lovely cushiony ride, I think it had coil springs on the front where the equivalent transit and other commercial vans of that era tended to have leaf springs. And the wipers parked themselves just under the roof line.

Wiping the rectangular headlight lenses was a party-trick he did sometimes demonstrate; it uses a push-pull cam mechanism to make a motion more than likely inspired by the rink action in a winter Olympics curling contest!

Thank you for showing the rear of the Fiat 128 , my dad had a blue one on the “R” . Got it when I was 8 and he kept it on the road for the next 14 years . Lovely car , great memories 😀

Brilliant video. It's a shame they are not producing Proton cars for the UK Market. Very good reliable cars.

That Zodiac MK4 is beautiful ,Also very nice to see the Rover 600 just before it in silver, My dad had one of those for many years until a bus went into the back of it :D but definitely a trip down memory lane seeing that, What a fantastic festival and tour by Hubnut :)

Great video! Mainland Europe doesn't really have these kind of festivals for these kind of ordinary old cars. Any carmeet around here is mostly filled with Luxury cars, sports cars and exotics.

One of the main things I miss about no longer living in the UK is not being able to go to shows such as this. Thank you for taking me on your visit and sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm.

Thank you so much for featuring my Proton at 36:50 and complimenting him on the colour and scrappage scheme survivor badge on the back! I was overjoyed to see a Proton take home the top prize of the show, and totally didn't spend the rest of the show basking in the reflected glory! 😉

I can't believe you skipped that lovely Mk 1 Ford Cortina at 3:48. Brings back memories of family holidays in the 1960s. My parents didn't own a car at the time but used to hire one for the family holiday every year. At first it was always a Ford Anglia but as me and my brother got bigger (and joined by another brother in 1965) it was a Mk1 Cortina.
