Hucking Sunset falls sideways in a raft NWCC 2019

The mass start race for the Northwest creeking competition had a ton of swimmers on sunset falls...... we were some of them. The East fork of the Lewis river was really fun i cant wait to get back, not bad for our first time!!!!

Standing up in current like that in a non rescue situation is naughty. Nice self rescue at the end though :)

I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't stopped flowing down stream and others were doing it around me..... I know it's a no no

@@deathanglewhitewater The other people were upstream of you in shallower water. You walked right into deeper current. Highly recommend a switftwater rescue course.

@@berrycrawford5579 i stood up right next to Robert Delgado one of the best rafters there is. I literally didn't stand up until i stopped traveling down stream. i agree it was sketchy and not preferable but it was the right thing to try and do an that time
