Thx for the video! I've just bought Concorde (for MSFS - not a real one! 😀) and will be giving this a try. With regards the cabin - Concorde was 100% 1st Class. At least it was when I flew in it back from JFK. Got enough frequent flyer points with BA and I was offered an early morning flight on Concorde as a bonus. A couple of weeks later the terrible fire occurred so was lucky (or unlucky - depending on how you look at it) enough to be one of the last people to fly in a Concorde. The only time I landed after a transatlantic flight thinking "that was fun, turn around, I want to do it again!"

It truly is a magnificent aircraft! I know that they have reasons on why the concorde can't fly anymore, but I wich It would fly again with modern technology and safety standards. It's actually crazy that they had the technology of an modern airliner back than. Obviously everything is more modern now but the technic is basically the same.

Great video, very helpful for the first flights! I see two issues with this gorgeous plane: 1. The autopilot is way too sluggish, you cannot fly a STAR and expect to catch the localiser as published in the charts. To catch the localiser, you need to be aligned with the runway within 1 or 2 degrees, best already 20NM ahead of the runway. This is not practical and other planes catch the LOC/GS much better. 2. The reheats (piano keys) have no effect…even when off, the reheats engage at Max Climb or full throttle.

Nicely done mate. I'm missing a step somewhere on intercepting an ILS. I do all the usual stuff, ILS frequency, switch from GPS mode to INS, intercepting from below, with approach mode enabled but it won't lock on to the glide slope. I don't have this issue with any other ILS capable aircraft. Having said that, bringing it in manually is so much easier than I thought it would be. Once you have the right approach speed, it's pretty easy to get it on the ground, compared with a lot of other airliners.
@Huddison2 жыл бұрын
Make sure you're close enough to the ILS before switching over from INS to RAD. Did this happen on the route I showed in this video?
@musefan123452 жыл бұрын

Really enjoying your concorde video, I'm onto part 2 now, one question, when you switch thr knob to radio frequency to enter the glidescope heading for your airport, I was trying to click on the link to your example nav, but it says page not found, where can I get glidescope headings for, also isn't that automatically entered as part of the flight plan in the simulator page when selecting the route
@Huddison10 ай бұрын
LittleNavMap is a great option for that kind of thing: albar965.github.io/littlenavmap.html
@arifazar78610 ай бұрын
@Huddison a quick question, if I enter a full flight plan with ils approach already defined, I think it doesn't work.. it misses the runway, so presumably you have to enter a basic flight plan in the MSFS and then follow your guide to manually select an ILS in the FMC then manually switch the radio frequency off INS when you get near the runway. ? To the correct frequency for the runway?
@Huddison10 ай бұрын
Around 15-20 nm out from your arrival runway, switch it over to INS. Also yes, enter the correct ILS frequency in the FMS. @@arifazar786
@arifazar78610 ай бұрын
@Huddison thank you for replying, apologies for asking lots of questions.. in your part 1 video, did you enter a basic flight plan in MSFS without the ILS options, I.e. you then proceed in video part 2 to select the ILS from the FMS. ? Therefore your aircraft follows a basic flight plan upto 20 or so NM.. I think in your video you switch from INS (navigating you almost to the runway) to RAD , adding manually the ILS frequently on both sides..

I start on the runway to expedite these kind of videos; but always on a stand/gate when flying for the VA. Been a while for me with Concorde and will get back to it soon. @@Misterj36
@mapolinski10 ай бұрын
@@Huddison It most definitely is NOT automated. If you're not transferring fuel then you are flying out of trim for 90% of your flights. Also you're probably not making use of all the fuel you're taking limiting your range. I suggest you read the manual.
