Hudo

Hudo is a well known form of folk dances of Gujarat. It is the folk dance form of Bharwad Tribe means the shepherd community of Gujarat. It is famous for its connection with ‘Tarnetar Fair’ which is world famous fair in a small village in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat. This dance has a unique origin. The idea of the dance originated from the fighting of the sheep. The movements of two sheep ramming their heads in a repeated rhythm pattern composes the natural dance form. Shepherd used to say a word ‘HEY’while directing his animals and the same kind of voice ‘HEY’ is used in the dance by boys and girls while presenting their joyous expressions. The dancers clap their hands in a forceful and rhythmic manner.Both men and women participate in Hudo Dance.
