Hudson River plane crash - 15.1.2009.

A passenger plane has crashed into the Hudson River in New York City. According to the live pictures on MSNBC, passengers, some wearing life jackets, are being rescued from the chilly waters.
According to the TV reports, Flight 1549 was en route from La Guardia to Charlotte, North Carolina, carrying 148 passengers and 5 crew members. Prior to going down in the water the pilot reported a bird strike after hitting a flock of geese. According to Flighaware.com, the plane was in the air for just six minutes after take-off.
Temperatures in New York are in the low 20s. Within minutes of hitting the water, the jet was nearly completely submerged. Still, there have been no reports of fatalities as a flotilla of boats - many of them water taxis - converged on the plane to rescue the passengers and crew.

The title of this should be revised to emergency landing. Calling it a crash is insulting to the pilot, who knew the plane would go down & instead of crashing it, chose to land it in the Hudson with his extraordinary skills. Props to him.

It's not a standard procedure to land a plane on the water. Because of great forces the plane often desintegrates.. So the captain did an amazing job there to land the plane safely on the Hudson river!

US Air said that passengers are going to be charged for the use of the flotation devices. US Air also reportedly said that they will be charging the passengers if they need to "reschedule" their flights. Recovered luggage will be weighed and additional fees levied if "waterlogged". The passenger in 22A had not paid for his blanket, they described him as a "person of interest". Said company spokesperson Douche M. Bag, "We don't apologize for any inconvenience"

I know medic, agreed. making fun of the "truufers" Geese are big birds, well beyond what most commercial engines can handle. And yes his souring experience probably did help him instinctively on bringing a flying bus to the slowest controlled stall possible. Have you see the vids of the bottom of the plane yet? He clearly drug the tail on the water to disipate energy, GREAT FLYING!

To be honest, flightsim is like racing a superbike in a video game on arcade mode, automatic, in better-than-ideal conditions compared to flying a real plane, even an ultralight for that matter. So seriously, you know nothing about it.

It's a good thing that nobody is hurt. And yeah, sometimes things just happen. Planes don't have "horn" to warn the birds to get out of the way. What to say, again all respect to the pilots! The sad thing is, that someone will "again", soon, came up with a "terrorist" story. Which is patetic!
